Sorry to hear about this, Terry! That has always been one of my biggest fears with those idiots at Airscare. Hence, I always tell them about the dog-leg and make sure they know what it will cost them if they #$%^ up.
So did they give you a "Pass", or do you have to take it for a re-test?

Glenn , the car passed the emisions test with ease , as usual . I filed a writen report at the testing station right away . I contacted the company operating the inspection station and they "seem to" admit fault . They have sent the report on to ICBC ( our provincial insurance co . ) and I have a apointment with them tomorrow . I have told the insurance Co. that I want the drivetrain removed and inspected , anything that of not perfect or could be suspect , replaced . If they dont want to coperate , I have the will and finincal ability to take this as far as needed . My big question is what do you think got damaged ? And who can check it out and repair it ? Colin is the only one that comes to mind but I am not sure the insurance Co. will aprove of him. The Porsche dealer is the logical choice , but I have little faith in their ability to fix it . thanks for your input guys . Terry

Terry,

I believe that you are correct with ICBC not approving of having me do the work. However stranger things have happened.

However that said, you could insist on having say MCL or Weissach remove the drivetrain and inspect it, and demand for me to come in and inspect the components once they have been removed. Out of the two choices I do have to admit I would choose Weissach over MCL. I doubt MCL has even seen a 928 (let alone a GT) in decades. The chance of them damaging the 5th gear input upon removal is fairly high.

The one thing I would be STRONGLY encouraging is with the TT removed to have the central TT shaft magnetized, then demagnetized. This will cause ANY cracks in the parent metal to push away from each other ensuring that they are found. If there are any minute cracks the shaft will need replacement.

While the transmission is out full disassembly and again magnetizing and demagnetizing of the input shaft (5th gear), would be really nice. However it may not be 100% required. They could do fracture testing as they do with non metallic pieces on the input shaft of the transmission without full assembly. A flush and visual inspection through the top cover of the transmission would be sufficient.

Is the PSD light still on?

You mean after this "incident" you let that moron complete the testing process?

Glenn , they do the idle test first , then the road test as you well know . How it passed , I don't know , because the reverse to first gear shift killed the motor . I wonder if the maintain a data log of the tests.

I would be suspect of the coupling near the clutch, the clutch itself and 5th gear, of course all or none could be damaged. What about the driveshafts? Any twisting?
