Default Head gasket question

Just going to be doing an engine build and had a quick question. If I get the heads shaved down a bit say .008 would I have to get a thicker head gasket or can I still use the standard ones? Thanks

The WSM shows a reference point on the head where you measure the thickness, but I don't know the details.

Look in the manuals for how to gauge the amount of material actually removed. There are blocks on the ends for this purpose.

That said, at a 0.008" skim you won't need thicker gaskets.
