Rebuilding the blower motor?
Has any body rebuilt a blower motor?
Got any links?
My used blower motor started to squeak this weekend, so I know it wont be long now.
I drilled holes to lube it when I put it in, but I know that is a stop gap measure.
They are really expensive for a blower motor.

I have one apart too and chances of rebuilding it is pretty dim - worn out armature, tired bushings. Was chatting with a buddy in Germany and told him I thought they were NLA. He swears he can get them new from Bosch, so I am trying to get a batch (just the motor) imported, hope it works out. I should have a sample in about a week - fingers crossed.... Bruce

Greg I have good luck removing the motor by dropping out the bottom, this lets you replace the in/out air flap pod and then reseal the bottom blower box seal with 3M strip caulk sealant.
Put a towel over the CE panel after you flip it down so all the crud wont fall into the wires when the blower box is removed..
For the motor I suggest to first remove it from the housing then blow it out with compressed air then flush the bearings with either elex cleaner or brake cleaner followed by a blow out with the air gun , lube the bronze bushing/bearings with lite oil and run the motor on the bench I run a battery charger through a resistor pack to test the speeds

Here is a thread with some pictures,

BTW the motors are not rebuildable,
but the brushes can be replaced if you can find a set

That is what I am finding is that they can not be rebuilt, I have all ready done the clean and lube on both of mine. and the squeak comes back in a few months.

Greg, I had mine rebuilt but they had to cut a new commutator for it. Not all electrical shops are set up to do this, you have to ask around. Mine was done at AutoLectric in Campbell, Ca. and cost $125. (408)559-3540

I had this trouble on my '84 Euro. I got tired of pulling it out and cleaning/lubing for a few months of use.
I found this website and took a chance on the blower motor kit:
http://www.arnnworx.com/catalog/inde...7deeaae5a12935
This kit was very professional. The blower motor was new from Bosch. The only difference between it and the original 928 motor is that it was about .50" longer. You have to mod your fan motor housing. The kit comes with fasteners, extension leads for the wiring, a gasket and new top. The mods to the fan housing was done in less than 10 minutes with a dremel. Very easy.
Come to find out, the website is run by a guy in this thread 'F18Rep'. From the looks of his site, he is big into 944s and just started rebuilding a 928.
Hope this helps. I will be doing this mod to my other 928s when their blower motors start going out.
