If the rubbing issue is only at full lock, then I stand by what I said earlier.
If that's not the case then I misunderstood the problem and retract all of my statements / comments.
I can think of two 928's in Green Bay alone with rack stops and one that should have them (mine). Only one has an upgraded sway bar.
What if the first batch was like this and DR's fix for the problem was including a set of rack stops?
For the record, I never meant to imply anyone was bashing any vendor. This is a good topic so everyone is on the same page, but at the same time the solution is so simple.............assuming I'm understanding the issue.
Just to repeat myself, everything I've said in this thread is based on information that the rubbing is only when the steering wheel is at full lock in either direction.

My suggestion to Roger is to to invite Jim over for a cocktail, and slip him something in his drink to knock him out. Then while he's passed out, swap bars. Problem solved.

Just to respond to an AO inane statement. The car has been off the road since the damage was caused.
The damage was done with two turns to full lock during one drive of less than 20 miles.
Since then the car has been on the lift while we (Ali, Sean, Jim and others) try to find a solution to the problem.
I would recomend to all that are going to fit these sway bars to do a trial installation and check for fouling of the bar to wheel/tire before actually driving the car.
We are doing a trial installation of the front bar to a car with 8" wheels this morning. Carrera 111 wheels and hopefully they will clear for the owners sake.

Ok, now that I'm back in Michigan, I measured the brand new DR sway bar that's been sitting in my basement for the few weeks. It measures 44 9/16" from side to side.
I also just took a measure ment of the gap between the inner edge of my Carrera III wheel and the older DR swaybay that is installed on my car. Best guess is there is about 2" of clearance between the wheel and the swaybar at full lock.
Sorry for the mesyy undercairage. My oil cooler has sprung a slight leak. It will be part of my winter maintenance.

Andrew, looks like you cut the end off of that bar that is on the car, did you also bend it a bit at the ends?

Oh yeah... mine was part of the "reject" batch from the first run. DR had a bunch that had to have the front hole cut off. I forget why. They were cheap, too. $75 IIRC. I did not modify it in anyway.

I measured my new front bar in it is 44 5/8" end to end. No clearance problems at all.
AO, have you or anyone else heard anything from DR? This has been going on for a couple months and no response?
I love my new sway bars, wouldn't put the old ones back on. The only problem I had was installing and shortening the rear (#26 in this post).

Great News for some - Chuck's car has the new bar fitted and we have 1/4" clearance on the passenger side and 1-1/4" on the drivers side.
Once we center up the bar we will have 3/4" clearance either side approx.
Looks like my bar is wider than the others quoted here. Next car on the lift is mine so we can polish the damage off the wheels and check the bar measurement again - with my eyes I may have measured incorrectly.
My bar measured at 44.75" at the end of the bar (tip edge to tip edge) and not at the widest point.
We tried bending the bar and managed to get it down to 44.5" but it went back to the original length.
Without any input from the supplier I will see if I can get mine rebent by Addcco.

Ah ..." We tried bending the bar and managed to get it down to 44.5" but it went back to the original length. " much as one would expect since it is a spring a long somewhat straight spring but a spring none the less.

Jim,
We figured it would spring back but it was worth try.
We also wanted to put it under a 30 ton press and see if we could make better headway. However it would not fit.
The amount we will have to grind of the bar makes us nervous. So it will be up for sale and I will revert back to my straight sway bar made by Mark Robinson.
The other bonus with that bar is that it is not as close to the ground as the DR bar.

Sorry guys for my delayed response, Addco and I have been swapping phone calls, batting specs and info back and forth all week trying to sort out what is, or has happened with some of the bars. Earlier this week I had asked Dan (VP of Addco) to review this thread and the pics posted (thanks everyone for the pics, it helps a lot).
Yesterday the decision was made to make a front and rear bar with Dan personally supervising the production of the bars to be absolutely sure he can send me a set without any chance of a possible production error. They stopped the production at the first possible opportunity so this could be done and the front has now been hand delivered to me. We were hoping to have the rear done the same way today but it has not arrived yet (different production machines).
Once they are both here I am going to install them and begin measuring and checking fitment to try to figure out what has gone wrong with some of them so Addco can fix it ASAP. At the same time I plan to create a simple "on car" measuring system so anyone that already has them installed can easily check various dimension points to see if the bars were made correctly or not. As soon as I have more info I will pass it along here in this thread.
We did find one front bar in the initial production of the new bars at SITM that was about an inch wider than spec. Although Addco was embarressed about it I attributed it us pushing them so hard to have them ready for SITM. The time frame was so close they actually hand delivered them Friday night of SITM at the Hotel, so they were obviously rushing probably too fast. Luckily we caught that bar before it was installed (and it is accounted for) and in checking the rest of that batch we didn't find anymore at that time.
If anyone else finds one that is for sure over 45", please contact us ASAP and I would recommend not installing it.
It would also help us, and Addco has requested the original purchaser's information so they can find out which batch the bars came. So if anyone finds a bar that has any issues, even any future issues It is important to know the original purchaser's name and an invoice number would help to (although not required). Speaking of that, Roger we don't have a record of you purchasing a bar from us so if you e-mail, post, or call us with the original purchaser's info it would help Addco a lot, especially since it seems you may have one that was made wrong.
Once again I apologize on behalf of myself, 928 Specialists and Addco for any of these fitment issues. BUT, as always we will stand behind it and resolve it as we always have with our products. Addco also has a history and proven record of doing the same. So bare with us and we get this sorted out correctly as fast as we can.
Also please keep in mind, comments about selling for getting rid of any of these bars is not productive and doing this can actually add to confusion in getting this sorted out. Not to mention future issues down the road with fitment problem for another 928er. It is important, as with any defective or incorrectly made product, for it to be taken out of circulation, and not passed on to someone esle. Doing otherwise is not good for anyone, and certainly not our fellow 928 friends.. Any original purchaser can get a full refund if the product is not, or cannot be made to their complete satisfaction, just as with any of our products.
It would help us a lot if you could PLEASE use the following e-mail to report any issues or to get any information concerning these bars. Please the include the orginal purchaser's full name(not just your Rennlist user name :-) and an order number would also be great.
Send it to order@928gt.com or jeannie@928gt.com and putting "Sway Bar" somewhere in the subject line would be appreciated also.
Thanks as always for your patience as we get this sorted out and have a Great Weekend,
