Default Laguna Races this weekend and Next! SCCA and PRO GTGP weekend (VIDEO UP)

Scot and I will be racing at Laguna Seca for the grand finale SCCA ITE race this next weekend (OCT 16th 2010). should be a good time and the grid looks kind of small right now, but some solid compeition for all.
we will be there friday and saturday , with the race around noon time on Saturday.

The following weekend (OCT 23th) will be the GT Grand Prix, put on by GMG and will be a full spectator event with a ton of pro drivers and cars out there. In fact, i just saw the entry list and guys like Andy Pilgrim, van Overbeek, Sofronas, and a bunch of others from WCGT will be there. WCGT porsche cup cars, Volvos, the nsx turbo of Kip Olson, GT3RSRs from ALMS, etc, will all be racing saturday and sunday in 50min races. Guess what, Mark Anderson will be there with a new set of slicks, so watch out!

I might run, but probably not, unless some sponsor dumps $1000 in my lap and wants to see my old bugger out there with their name on the car. (entry fee are high, but it is a full 3 day, 4 sessions per day pro , no sound restriction weekend!) The same weekend will also have some other pro run groups, like the nascar historics, the porsche pirelli cup, and 3 groups of time attack (like) time trialers. if anyone wants to run their car a one of the best tracks in North America, to compete for time, this is venue you dont want to miss!

Good luck

BTW, I'm going follow in the Kibort footsteps and race in SCCA Nov 5-6. We have ITO here, like your ITE.
I may even splurge on a new jug of tire treatment!

good luck to Scot and you this weekend!!

However for NEXT weekend....try to make NCRC on Oct 22nd (friday)....if you can make it I will float for entry fee for the race!!!

I am hoping Sean will be there in the Widow too....it will be close, but it could make it.....it would be GREAT to see you and Sean out there in the Race....I might even bump up and watch you guys disappear into the distance!!!

Thanks for the offer Brian! maybe I can get those guys from NCRC to let me float, as I do instruct with them on occasion and usually they let the instructors race for free too. hard to tell what will happen. If I can get the cash, i might do the GMG GTGP weekend that weekend of the 22nd, but its doubtful.

let me know if you confirm Sean making it out.

Will do....one other benefit of you making it on the 22nd is we can do some testing for the larger RA1's vs my R1's on the Estate....we can also split driving time.....I am interested in your input on helping fine tune the suspension....my opinion is it still understeers too much at the limit....

Another test could be my tiny wheels-tires on your machine....I don't think it would work well....but could be an interesting test just for fun?

Mark,

Ill toss in $250 towards your race. (maybe more)
I also wanted to get to NCRC the 22nd. Maybe not. I am picking up the Euro tomorrow and off to CT (Campbell),

or I'll help split the NCRC with Brian for you.

Why? you ask?

When I see you at the tracks, you always have time to talk to me and my son, and always are friendly. I know how much you like to race.

your choice

Wow, Rick! I was kind of joking around, but that is a very generous offer!

I think Im going to the SCCA race this weekend with Scot. He has that new transmission ( S4) installed and i think it will help him with lap times.

As far as the pro weekend. Im trying to work out a deal with the promotors and might get some relief on the entry fees. That weekend will follow the SCCA ITE race weekend (friday and saturday this week)

That would be really interesting! I dont know how I could pull both off, as Im trying to get some sponsorship to do the big Pro Event. This event has been getting a lot of Air time on the radio lately. its going to be a pretty cool weekend of racing. lots of big names. someone might want to put a name on a car out there, especially a home grown operation like mine with a very old car. sure a back marker in this field, but there are a few expensive cars in the back that I could have a good time racing and hopefully beating.

I would love to do this kid of test with you . I should probably mount up the newer ones for a better comparison. im almost at the cords on my "B" set now and those things will get changed out. they finally died ! unreal. after 2 years!

Good Luck!!

I should be around this weekend for the SCCA race.

if/When you have a chance, go by CT in Campbell, checkout my 2 to be 1 cars.

I think the parts from the Euro will do fine. Im open for suggestions too...

It will be good to see you out there. Certainly, Ill swing by CT to check out the merging of technologies. what are you actually doing again? Scots is pretty dialed in now with the S4 transmission. all he needs now, is the MAF conversion.
Ill take a look and see what we can improve on your set up.
I was just there to get my used donated rotors turned at the shop behind. (not bad, basically new GTS rotors for 18 bucks! ) this is my second set of turned rotors. never thought I would ever do it, but these are tough times.

Well,

1) We are swapping out the "broken" tranny and TT for the Euro.
2) Pull the engine (Euro), get ready to refurb (open for suggestions)
3) Soon swap that too from the track 79 motor.

all fun...

Race time is 11:30am on Saturday if anyone was planning to check it out.

Next weekend, is the big race. Still looking for some sponsorship to run in the Pro race. actually, there are 3 different classes, I might be able to qualify for the World Challenge GTS group, or Grand Am GS, which is more my cars performance level. (power, tires, etc) I probably would do well and have a good finish there. anyway, I will be racing in this saturday's SCCA ITE race at laguna.

I might be able to swing by today to check it out.
Ryan doing the work?

did you mean, "from the euro" ?

so the euro 4.7 will go into the track car. cool. what do you mean by "refurb"? if you are going through it, you may as well get a 5 liter bottomend and do a refurb on that, and stick it in. i think used bottom ends are under $1000.

Help me with getting more sponsor ship for next weekend's race, and Ill even build it for you!

GTGP Global Tuner Grand Prix is getting a ton of publicity. I might have to do it! (the race, and build your engine! )
