Default Intake manifold sensor

Should the sensor on the top rear of intake turn where the wires connect on my 1988 S4?
Thank you!
Thomas

I believe that is a temp sensor that will turn on the fans after the engine is shut off if the intake air temp is too high. If something on this sensor is turning, then it may be a vacuum leak.

That hole doesn't go all the way through the metal so no air will leak. Also, I do believe it will trigger the fans if you short out the wires and push the hood closed button. I was also thinking it can retard the timing slightly if it senses the intake is hot.

It's just a switch for the fans. I'm pretty sure there's a separate inlet air temp sensor that's used to adjust timing and mixture... the one built into the MAF may be used for this dual purpose.

The two connector terminals are molded into some sort of plastic insert in the brass body of the sensor (928 606 217 00). On the GTS mine was turning inside the sensor, and Greg took it and threw it in the trash.
