Any pics of this? Does this require cutting holes in the inner fenders?

Sorry no pics. No holes had to be cut, inlet tubes go between spoiler and inner fender/frame with the air filters under the headlights.

Something that's kind of easy to overlook if you don't know about it is the seal behind the thermostat. The ones in some cars have been in pretty bad condition. That can have an effect on the efficiency of the cooling system. If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest replacing the stock thermostat with one of the 75C ones, and replacing that seal behind it.

I currently run a brand new stock Behr Rad, with a 16" Zirgo Ultra HP fan. ZFU16S I believe is the model number. It cost about 225.00.

I thought I would get more air flow with the 2 9" fans, but it did not work out that way. The fan I got now is rated at around 3600cfm and seems to be my best solution so far..
So, did you have to remove the whole louver system, or just the motor, or were you able to make them work with the 16" fan?

My Louver system had already been removed so I really can't answer that.
I will try and get some pic's today of the 16" fan install.

Thanks for the tip. I acutally had replaced the seal twice in the 10 yrs I have had the car, the second time right after the SC install. I also replaced the thermostat twice (second time doing the kitchen water test) just to make sure all was OK.

Thanks

Are there any possibilities for an air box that doesn't block the radiator so much?

This was one of the main advantages that Carl pointed out for the Raptor setup... less obstruction of cooling airflow.

What I mean is, looking at the picture of the airbox here:

http://www.murf928.com/forum/downloa...a32df08aad80f3

It really looks like a less boxy adapter would be possible so that the air box wasn't blocking off so much of the radiator. Or, since the air intake at the top is removed, to run an air intake box up, rather than down, and bring the hose around the side from there. That would probably cut in half the radiator surface obstructed.

In light of Carl's recent cooling tips thread, I'm curious if anyone has added a pusher fan to a non-boosted S4, and if so, what kind of results did you enjoy? I'm not boosted, yet, but I'm going to be running some high RPMs on the track and that also generates a lot of heat. Planning to yank out the slats behind the front bumper tomorrow (time permitting), and I thought this would be better use of the space.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is the fans are really for stopped and slow speed. Once past X MPH, the ram air effect dominates the equation. I'd estimate X to be somewhere around 30 to 40 mph.

Good point. Though perhaps this could help with cooldown in between runs? Of course so could a big fan parked in front of the car running off a generator! Tis an option... Carl's race coolers also look pretty, well, cool.

Yes, we added a spal fan to the front of a 5 speed 88 with great results. 20-30 degree drop in temps in stop and go traffic and an airconditioner that is cold, in traffic on a 103 degree day.

I've not done an automatic S4 yet but its on my list of things to do, due to the trans cooler and the smaller condenser the fan used on the 5-speed wont' work.

This would require the water pump to be operating and that requires the engine to be idling which generates heat. At a track this may not be an option, but I find light cruising around 35 MPH drops the temp the fastest.

Absolutely nothing wrong with adding a pusher fan and would recommend getting the most CFM that fits. Imre found one on Summit Racing I believe that was like 3K or more:
