Never before heard of Speedometer Problem? Porsche Techs say I'm crazy.

Got the new cover. Speedometer works, but cover is for a manual tranny. 928 International sending an automatic differential cover with the same sender location.
By the way, the filler and drain plugs for a manual cover are larger than an automatic cover's plugs.
My thanks to Jim Bailey, your solution was on the money.
And thanks to Tom at 928 International for all of his help as well.

There are more than two covers.
And the automatic and manual covers I have share the same sized plugs.
But the fill level is very different / plugs are in different vertical locations.
So, careful with generalizations.
Post some pictures for everybody if you can.

Sorry about that.
To clarify.
I have 2 covers. One is for manual. One is for an automatic.
In the case of these two particular covers, the plug sizes are different.
The sensor and fill hole placement are also in different locations from one cover to the other.
Yes, automatic fill hole is higher than on the manual. I thought eveyone would already know this since the covers indicate this with the word AUTOMAT in big capital letters and an arrow pointing to where the hole should be. But perhaps this is only the case for these two covers and the others on the cars that I have worked on. Yours could be different, but I find that if the hole isn't where the arrow is pointing, then it's a manual cover.
The sensor location on the manual cover is 12mm closer left towards the center on this particular cover but is no higher or lower.
I'll post any other differences for the third cover that is being shipped to me, if there are any.
I didn't want to mislead anybody with my previous post. I figured most people would be smart enough to understand that I was talking about the two covers that I have and I'll try and be exacting in any descriptions that I might post in the future.

Final Solution
The magnetic carrier disk installed on the posi unit in my car turned out to be a later model part.
The number for the later disk is 928 318 024 05.
Final solution was to use a cover from a 87 928 automatic. The cover I recieved from 928 International did not have a drain plug hole and I was told that Porsche had moved the drain plug to the bottom of the differential case on the later cars. So I had a machinist add a drain plug.
Thanks to everyone for their input!
