Unbelievable build quality
This weekend I replaced the bulbs of the side-marker lights on my 86.5.
I did some research on how to replace them, and noticed the lenses are held by two M5 - 8mm nuts. The car is almost 25 years old now, so I had a full can of WD40 penetrating fluid stand by and I made sure I had enough energy to find solutions for broken off studs / nuts /etc.
To my surprise, all nuts, including the right-rear ones which are attacked by rain water and dirt by the rear tire, loosened super easy
I was really surprised by the great quality, even for such a simple part as these lenses.
Two weeks ago I was doing a timing belt job on a 2005(!) Alfa Romeo GT 3.2, and even on this young car, I snapped off a couple of bolts holding the inner fender covers, and I had to weld an extension bar on one of the M10 bolts holding a timing belt bearing.
It is a real joy to see and feel that most parts on the 928 were designed in the pre-disposable car era

Don't get too excited, the 928 has it's own "WTF were they thinking" bolts too. Most of them are holding the waterpump to the block.

Right-rear was indeed the most tricky one to loosen, but nothing I couldn't handle with a small ring-wrench.
The fronts are really easy, I jacked the car up and could remove the rubber cover and light fitting from underneath the car without even removing the lenses. really a 5 minute job.
I dont really like the side markers, but they look better (or less ugly) when they actually work
