2010 Cross Country support team
If there is anyone who wouldn't mind helping me out should my shark let me down during my cross country run from CA to VA, please do drop me a PM. Heaps of praise and probably dinner would be on the cards for any potential Samaritans. I have AAA so I would at least be able to get the car to anyone's house or preferred 928 shop.
I will be traveling through SOCAL (Pacific Coast Highway,) Vegas (Thanks Jeff!) Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Memphis, Nashville, Tennessee, Kentucky and Southern Virginia. I'll be taking the major highways mostly because of time pressures. I am doing this by myself so meeting up with some fellow shark owners along the way would be really great.
I leave Stockton, CA on the morning of the 8th heading east and hope to be home by the 17 at the latest.
Once I get home I will and try to get a little more acquainted with the quirks of our cars!
Thanks in advance to this great community,

Check which level of AAA you have basic is 7 free miles, next level is 100 miles, third is 200 miles. Note that the tow truck charges 3-4 dollars per "excess" mile and if you request a flat bed tow it may take much longer for them to respond but the ONLY way to tow a 928 ! And if you head out from Stockton Pacific Coast Highway is west....a lot west

If you do head west and hit PCH in say Salinas down to Ventura it will add 200 miles to the trip and at least 5 hours depending on the Hwy 1 traffic which is often bad near Santa Barbara. In New Mexico the route 66 Casino /Hotel can be a reasonable place to stay and cheap gas .......if you do not gamble

That's the same route we took on the way back from Monterey to Atlanta in the 90 GT. If you can spare the time to drive through Yosemite, do it. We saw the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Vegas on Halloween was a sight to behold but nothing compared to driving through Yosemite. If you do make it through Yosemite, stop by Lee Vinings on the way out and tell everyone we said Hi. They'll remember us. We're the folks that broke down in the fancy Porsche and spent the weekend.
Have a fun trip and enjoy the sights.
