Default FS: 928 hybrid motor, complete or componentized

Up for sale is my hybrid 928 project. Personal situation forces me to liquidate my 928 project in its entirety (just sold the car last night), so now my hybrid motor has to go too. This motor is 100% complete. All you need is the seal kits, it is ready for assembly. It has been sitting in a plastic-wrapped wooden crate in my climate controlled garage since 2005 awaiting assembly. I can ship anywhere in the ConUS via freight.

Here's what's included:
Complete top end from a 1980 4.7L Euro-spec car, acquired from Lizard back in May of 2005. Over $2500 invested in acquisition and prep work. Sacrificing at $1500 OBO + shipping for the whole top end package. Includes:
  • both heads with complete valve train, freshly skim cut by Musante Motorsports and with complete valve job
  • both cam towers with Euro-spec cams and complete lifter set
  • all loose components from valve train (springs, retainers, collets, spring seats, sprockets, tensioning rollers, various brackets, and oil filler neck)
  • complete Euro-spec "spider" intake manifold with all runners, connectors, brackets, etc.
  • complete K-Jetronic CIS system including the AFM, throttle body, fuel distributor, AAV, WUR, all fuel lines, ignition distributor, and airbox with straps
Complete bottom end from a 1985 5.0L US-spec car, acquired from Mark Anderson at 928 International in the spring of 2005. Nearly $3000 invested in acquisition and prep work. Sacrificing at $2000 OBO + shipping for the whole short block package. Includes:
  • 1985 5.0L block, engine code M28/43, serial 81G 00826, disassembled, inspected, hot tanked by Musante Motorsports in August 2005
  • Matching crank inspected and balanced by Musante as above
  • Matched set of 100mm pistons with valve reliefs for hybrid setup, including matched wrist pins, retainers, and sequenced ring sets, performed by Musante as above
  • Matched set of OEM 5.0L rods, balanced by Musante as above
  • 4.7L flywheel balanced by Musante as above

Will sell entire setup as a complete package for the sacrificial price of $3200 + shipping (~$5500 invested in acquisition and prep work).
Will sell entire top-end setup for $1500 + shipping
Will sell entire short block for $2000 + shipping

Inquire via PM to discuss purchase of individual components.

I have known Dan for a very long time and he is a very stand up gentleman.

He would never do anything back handed, and will always make sure that things are fair.

I am sad to be seeing him leave the shark tank, but wish him the best of luck.

Though the bits arent actually off an 80, it was a later car than that

Indeed. According to David Lloyd (former 928 OC president and the guy who helped me spec out and prep this motor), his 928 race car with this setup produced ~350 BHP.

Buy it! You know you want it.

I don't know what expensive means to you.
$180 to deck heads
$335 for complete valve job
$398 disassembly, inspection, and hot-tanking of short block
$420 cut valve reliefs on pistons
$495 balance rotating assembly

The rest of the $$$ were tied up in acquisition of the bits. And that doesn't include the freight to have everything shipped.

$$$$ to me means a sub $500 race car!!!!!

However the "replacement" engine that I have 33 hours on did cost $300...

Heads are sale pending. Will be revising the listing to reflect that, and to re-list the CIS components.

I suspect if you sell just the heads it will be VERY, VERY difficult to sell the rest of the stuff... just a thought.
