that might work out VERY well...since my wife and her two sisters are planning "girls" night on Saturday..... PM sent to avoid blatant thread hijacking!!!

I don't think people are lying, I think they're just quicker to make a deal in their head that they don't have to complete with their checkbook.

Yes, you should definitely bring her by Sharktoberfest... The more the merrier!

Buy a 928 for a good price $2500
Snacks $40
Sharktoberfest AND a cross country road trip in a new to you shark? F-ing PRICELESS!

Default Postponement of Journey

I am having to wait on a part that will not arrive until Monday. So I am getting a rental and exploring the area a little over the weekend. I have all interested parties phone numbers stored and will, if needed, call you. Thanks again for those PMs. So I hope to be in Vegas Monday night and moving on from there having to do more miles per day than orginally planned. Thanks again to everybody who has sacrificed their time over the course of this trip.

Hope to hear from more people wanting to see the car,

Well its good and bad that the Mechanic found a couple issues that need to be fixed prior to a cross country road trip...better to find out BEFORE than during the trip!!!

Keith is WAY more detail oriented than I am...BY A BUNCH....I thought I was particular about 928's...then I saw the details that Keith (mechanic) took to chase down a coolant leak...WOW...turns out a head stud was broke in 1/2 causing a leak at the rear of the engine.... Of course he had to pull the heads to do it....but in the end Simon ends up with just about a full top end rebuild out of it!!!

In the process we found this waterpump installed in the car....whats even scarier is it worked just fine!! However I doubt it would have made the cross country trip!

That sucks, but better to find out now and have it taken care of before hitting those long streches of empty road. I always figure if something goes wrong at the start of a plan, the rest will go without incident. Hopefully this will apply to your trip. Just let me know when you're coming through. Looking forward to seeing your new ride!

I agree....while the slight delay now sucks.....having a siginifcant failure in the middle of nowhere is much worse!!!

Simon and I even discussed a "worst case scenario" where it take a few more days to get the car fixed....then just drive to LA for Sharktoberfest, arrange to have the car shipped and fly back....sure not as much fun as a cross country road trip.....but still get some seat time and can make the best 928 show of the year.....

However I hope to see Simon in Vegas on Tuesday.......so we wil have to get together then!!!

Default Slight change of route

A few days hanging out with friends here in the Bay area has been a good time so every cloud has a silver lining in this situation. I'm actually foregoing the Pacific Coast Highway now so am taking I5 on the way to Vegas. Depending on how well I do, I might end up there Monday night but we shall see. I have a more concrete route in place mostly using I40 so that I cover off some of the Rte 66 opportunities.

Default Update on car

I have to post an update to this post to say a big thank you to Brian for all of his help with the car. After getting it fixed up at Keith's, he is now going to store it for me until I return to the US. He has been a great help abd a real good samaritan and friend.

That is what this place is ALL ABOUT! Dr. Bob did the same thing for me with EURO85! I tell you what, you would be hard pressed to find a friendlier group than our SoCal 928 gang! I guess having 928 International in your backyard helps...I think the TX 928 group would be really close and we get 928sRus in our backyard! Great people and a great place to hang.

If you have not joined the 928 Owners Club you might go over to 928oc.org and check it out...now that you are a 928 owner and all!
