Default Why is my fuel golden yellow?

So here is the history.

Bought this car in May. Since I have done the following to the fuel system:

1. fuel tank drained, dropped and reinstalled.
2. new intank pump
3. new external fuel pump.
4. Replaced rubber fuel lines with kit from Roger.

I have had the engine running for the last couple of weeks for a few minutes here and there and it now starts well and next steps were to get a CIS test and tackle the smoothing out the idle.

Today I was planning to flush and bleed brakes which I did and then change the fuel filter (PO claims it was done but I have no faith).

When I pulled the old filter the fuel that I drained appeared pretty gold in color. When I drained the tank prior to dropping the tank that fuel was also gold color and I assumed the PO had added some kind of fuel treatment. Since I drained the tank and added 6 gallons of fresh fuel I was surprised to see the gold color fuel again.

I connected my jumper cable and ran the pump catching the fuel from the accumulator thru a funnel into a pale.

The fuel again is very gold colored. I began to wonder if the accumulator was the problem but then realized that fuel returns to the tank when not burned so any fuel component in the system could be a fault.

What is causing the fuel to turn to this color???

That is the natural color of gasoline with out any dye, it does seem to get darker with age though.

The car could be dehydrated, it should drink more.

more than likely is that the old gas left varnish deposits in the tank, and the new gas is dissolving them thus the gold color.
usually fresh fuel is clear if your using unleaded.
It will be OK as long as you use the gas within a few months .
Try adding some techron to the fuel when the car is up and running this will assist with dissolving the other deposits inside the tank, and the rest of the fuel system

I saw this too. Totally flushed the tank and put in new premium that was clear. (as well as a pump, used WUR, new injectors, and rebuild the FD) Then, mucking with the WUR I see yellow again. I think it is the varnish in the tank and lines coming out. Hopefully it will stop after a couple of tanks.
