Default Sound Insulation: Leave or Remove TT Tunnel Insulation?

I'm in the process of stripping out the interior on my '87 and would like to install sound insulation. I've read through the archives for advice, but didn't find a conclusive thread on the best approach. My current plan is to cover many of the interior surfaces in Dynomat Extreme. However, my question is about the existing insulation on the central tunnel. In my car it appears to be in relatively good shape. I would appreciate any recommendation on whether I should leave the insulation as it is or remove it and replace it with the Dynomat. If I do remove it and replace it with Dynomat, will there be issues in reinstalling the center console, arm rest, or rear center console?

Thanks!

I would leave the insulation as is and put the Dynomat over that it also acts as a heat shield the bottom of the car can get pretty hot

Stan,
Thanks. That was the advice that I was hoping to recieve I just noticed that more than one previous poster actually went through the trouble of removing insulation. Also, i wasn't sure it not securing the Dynamat to the actual tunnel surface would reduce its effectiveness. I guess that it comes down to if the dynamat is reducing panel vibrations or just blocking noise.
