Good Lord Mallman what are you doing???? Just my 2 cents, but I think you should have just removed the head lights and put air vent there. Then you could have just put some hallogen lamps where the drivin/fog lights are.

Big Holes In Fender
Had drier vents in the fenders when I bought the car .If and when I paint it and SC , ?? maybe we can get some air from the vents

Well allrighty then, that explains that,LOL I'm assuming you got a really good deal on the car? 
Idk, if your going to paint the car, I think you should just take the vents out, fix the holes, and make it look stock again. Once again just 2cents
