Hi Fabio,

I guess what I am saying is that it would be nice for us to have a place to gather together and hang out, separate from the Festival of Speed. (Who knows, the Ritz-Carlton might be accomodating.)

Maybe somewhere near by would be great. Then folks could hang out with 928's or go as a group to the show or go kart racing or have dinner together, etc.

I am just not familiar with what's there and who/what might let us gather at their place.

The Festival of Speed event has something all three days, Fri.-Sunday, with the car show being on Sunday. So if we wanted to tie in getting together with the car show, that'd have to happen on Sunday Oct. 10th. The show starts at 10am, so if everyone got there early enough, it'd leave plenty of time to get together somewhere else in the afternoon, have a late lunch/early dinner, or what ever everyone wanted to do. I can't remember if Old Town has too much going on Sunday afternoons. We can continue to explore some possibilities.

Would it make sense to have the get together Saturday afternoon and dinner afterwards, then those who wanted to visit the show could do so on Sunday?

I could do that and plan to stay over Saturday night in Orlando. Plenty of hotel rooms.

Edit: There is a go-kart track in the area, maybe they would let us take over part of the parking lot.. hehe, a mini Daytona.

Well, maybe the Festival of Speed car show is something we could keep in mind for those who wish to go, on Sun. Oct. 10th. It doesn't have to be the time or venue to gather as 928ers. Then if everyone prefers another weekend, on a Saturday, to gather at Old Town for other 928 fun, we could do that too. You just have to all settle on a date?? I know as of now, Nov. 13th & 20th are out for me. Maybe Nov. 6th, as that has been mentioned by some already, & its a month after the car show. For me, I don't see being able to drive back down to Orlando within a week or so of being there for the Festival of Speed. Heck, most weekends I do good to find time to cut the grass!!

And Russell, your wheels and your shark look very sharp!!

I didn't mean to muddy the water w/ talk of another OIld Town meet. It was just a suggestion I thought of when I heard that the Daytona event was canceled. I had no idea Mel had an alternative in mind. If we all try to agree on something it will never happen. Since Mel has taken on the job of being the FL 928 OG liason, I propose that Mel decides when and where the official meet will be. We can all then decide to go or not. We can do an Old Town meet anytime. If there is interest in that, lets talk about doing that later on in the year.

Well my thoughts of us meeting for the Festival of Speed aren't as "official" as when we meet at Sebring or Daytona. Just an event involving sports cars that's centrally located, and happened to be the same weekend that Sharks at Daytona/OktoberFast would have been. Just struck me as an easy choice maybe.

I say we can mark two dates on the calendar, Sun. Oct. 10th for any that want to attend Festival of Speed. We can figure out who can go on that date & decide if we want to coordinate meeting up again later that afternoon, away from the show. Then we can mark a 2nd date for Old Town too. I'll toss Sat. Nov. 6th out there for everyone's thoughts?? Or even the 1st Sat in Dec., the 4th?? But if the majority like any other particular date, that's all good with me cause its about what you guys want, not just me.

I am in for October meet, as I already planned time for it before finding out about Daytona canceling. The Orlando car show sounds like fun.

It seems that all of our Orlando 928 contingent have gotten divorced and went into hiding. As far as I know, there are no plans for 9-28 in the area.
