Hi Dan
Most of us use Paul Anderson at Stroud.... I realise its a fair trip for you but well worth it..928s are all he does, and he races them.... there is NOTHING he does not know or fix on 928s...

Try RGA Porsche in Vauxhall. Make sure you tell Bob you need the car the following day or he'll keep it for a week. Under no circumstances try Weston Porsche in Beckenham.

Thanks people. I'm in West Norwood, south London, near Crystal Palace.
I'd like to go to Paul Anderson, and my brother lives in Bristol, but bit of a trip time-wise.

I suspect your best bet is RGA in Vauxhall. It's in the railway arches next to Vauxhall railway station so must be accessible to you by rail. Bob is one of the few mechanics who's articulate enough to explain exactly what's wrong with your car AND he doesn't cost an arm and a leg. His only problem is his popularity and his willingness to take on too much work.

RGA Porsche sounds good, though fonetico has only posted in my thread! (Sorry to be suspicious!)
The Porsche is my only car, so living without her for any length of time is not much fun (but do-able with public transport and bicycle).
Any more recommendations for RCA Porsche?

Also had the pleasure of meeting Bob this year, while a friend was having his 1979 5spd head gasket failure caused by a 928 expert being investigated. Bob was very articulate, patient and thorough in his investigation and the report, which came from it. I would definitely trust him with my cars more than pretty much any other 928 expert bar Chris Sanderson (who is in Bury, Lancashire, thus no good to you) and GT One in Surrey

I'm a little disheartened to see my posting arouses suspicion. I've no personal interest in making the recommendation I did and intended only to be helpful. Having the dubious honour of being Bob's first customer at RGA, I've had many years of excellent service on my 924 and now my 928 S4.
He's often available on Sundays and holidays for emergencies and is always affable and patient.
However, as I said before, his business has grown enormously in recent years and in spite of a team of half a dozen assistants he occasionally has difficulty coping with the volume of work.
As I'm new to this forum, I apparently have yet to learn the etiquette and apologize if my credentials are wanting.

Fonetico- I'm really sorry that I was suspicious!
So you must be a Londoner: I don't suppose your 928 S4 was the lovely example I saw in Camberwell a couple of days ago, in a darkish gray?
I see a 928 about once every month or so if I'm lucky. Very rare in South London at least.

Sadly not my lovely example in Camberwell!
I'm still working on my example to make it lovely some time in the near future.
I bought it in Feb for two grand. It's a '90 S4, dark green in good shape with new tyres and 150k on the clock. As expected, I've so far spent £3,000 to fix AC/climate control, PSD, timing belt, water pump and numerous sensors and switches etc.
I took it for a spin to Bavaria in the summer (almost 2k miles) and it had no trouble sustaining a comfortable 120 on the German Autobahns. Unfortunately, on the way back it developed several noises and vibrations and I was limited to 70 for the last leg of the trip.
Bob had a look and changed a rear wheel bearing but the problem remains. I can only speculate that maybe it's the other bearing and perhaps even the engine mounts.
Maybe one of the experienced experts on this forum has some theories?
