Default Different headlight assembly??

I wished i had taken a picture of it, but at my local shop the owner installed a set of Euro style headlights (non chrome rings) like i have on my car, but they took the newer 9004 bulbs, and had different adjusters. anyone dealt with that setup?

you may have to wire in a new connector to the lights,
for the adjustment some of the older lights were made for hydraulic adjustment,
and some have fitted different rods to replace the adjusters
a picture would sure help though.
a link with a frontal picture and new wire connectors

Duc all 87 > used H-5 , 8 inch lights look like H-4s BUT BIG but throw much less light. The chrome trim and seven inch sealed beam like used on a 59 Chevy pickup was a cruel joke caused by over zealous protectionist policies to "save" the USA headlight producers. They were at the time considered critical to national defense....

In very weak defense of that '50s "must be a sealed beam" policy, the alternatives at the time were pretty much all unsealed housings that fogged/corroded up inside after a few years. FWIW, the "sealed beam" part of the law hasn't changed much. We've just managed to get more creative with reflector shapes. We've generally traded for plastic lenses that pit and craze, turn yellow and fade to dust in five years.

That's a nice collection of batteries he's got! Those are not H4 bulbs so it's not an E Code.

you should see all the engines he has laying around! he told me that set up is off an 87 928, and he stuck it on that car for a customer. looks like a much better set up then my H4 euro set up.

I'll bet that there are quite a few folks on here who would gladly swap you their USA H5 units for your E-type H4 units!

These are Standard H5 headlamps from a 87+ USA car. in the pecking order they are above 7" sealed beams but well below both 7" H4's and 8" H4's.

They do have rear pod accessible adjusters - though they clog up easily in practice - this one of their better features... Lighting Is just OK - looks are similar to H4s but with a different lens pattern and DOT aiming nipples on the lens face (H4s are smooth).

Genuine H4s on a ROW car will have either Hydraulic or Electric (later) remote headlight adusters.

I wonder why the guy opted for new H5s instead of H4s. Technically, I would guess the H4s are not legal equipment.

H4s = $349 each http://www.mailordercentral.com/928i...928 631 101 03
H5s = $379 each http://www.mailordercentral.com/928i...928 631 135 00

I swapped H4s in for my H5s. The light pattern is more defined. Also, they do much better with HID conversion for that reason, also technically not legal either.
