^^^^^good answer, Paul

quick one: could you help me understand the "frame" in which the switches fit?
My non-leather console does not have that, but it looks awefully familiar.

Hey Jim,

that is the factory bezel that comes with all the leather covered center consoles.
I also saw one or 2 vinyl consoles that had one. I suspect that the casting was less than perfect and they salvaged the console by adding the bezel.

We designed the switch panel to fit in that bezel for a nice, clean fit, and we will supply the bezels for those who will need one.

It is also possible to fit the switch panel without it. It might be necessary to add a small gasket around it, but I will look into that and will be ready with an answer when the time comes.

Default Kickdown

I wonder if you could incorporate a place for a kick down switch on this panel? Maybe it could take the place of the rear wiper switch or is that spot easily mistaken for the sunroof switch too much? I know I have hit mine by accident while trying open the sunroof.

That is a switch that would have to some feel to it so you know what you were hitting without looking.

I think it would look better than most of the toggel switches I have seen in the past.

Hey Moon,

implementing the kickdown switch is no problem. Actually, you can use any of these switches for almost anything you want. It is not hard either to make that particular "button" detectable by feel.
I don't really see a problem in hitting the kickdown by accident, some here drive with it on all the time.

Hello again everyone,

I was pretty swamped over the weekend, so if you haven't yet received your invoice, please be patient, I am working on it.

Thanks again for your support

Those of you who have requested to be on the pre-order list should have received either an email or a PM by now.

If not, please contact me.

Thanks again

I would like some clarification on how many of which DEI modules are required. If I get a panel that mimics the functions of my existing switches (Left Window, Sunroof, Rear Wiper, Right Window) do I need 2 530T modules, or 1 530T and 1 529T, or what?

Eric,

You are correct, You need one 530T module to do the window, and one 529T to do the sunroof. So, for an example if you have a sunroof delete car, you would only need the 530T.

Any other questions, just ask.

Thanks
Hans

Default DEI modules

I'm sorry to whine, but this definitely lessens my interest, esp if I have to deal w/eBay (you mentioned on RW, eBay as a potential source). From the beginning I opted for a plug and play. How much are these going to run? Wiring, butt splices, instructions? I know Paul does top-notch work, but I just came off a debilitating experience with the pod and ignition switch (and its not over) and I'm just not up to anything electrical at this time, if there is any chance I will screw it up. Maybe next summer.

Steve,

I know there are several people out there (yourself included) who just dont like messing with electrical systems. I will be available to pre-assembly everything for these individuals, including sourcing the units. If you choose to go this option, I will purchase the DEI modules through a local dealer to insure full factory warranty (more expensive than Ebay), and will only charge a modest amount for my time and consumables. Please feel free to contact me directly to address any custom work.

Thanks
Hans

Hans, I need the mods for sun roof and rear wiper, assembly, whatever; have you worked out the price for same?

Note: I guess I am one of those that fear electricals. That is to say, I can make butt splices, even solder if necessary, this is now 8 pages and this is new information. I have no idea what a DEI module is or how it connects, etc. I've reached the point I'm willing to pay to reduce the "Murphy" factor which seems to have taken a sudden leap here. I get irritable when the days get short.

Steve,

I just double checked and Post #4 on the first page does mention that the DEI modules are needed, so hopefully it isnt new information for many people. I will ask Paul to amend his initial post to include more information to make it more clear for others. Thank you for brining this to my attention.

As far as wiring these things. No splicing is necessary, everything will plug-in. I am happy to do this for you, but the only tool necessary for the 89 and older cars is a crimper and pair of wire cutters. I am including all the necessary parts and a clear diagram. I need to test the function on the 90+ cars with existing one-touch module. I have the schematics, and worked it out, but it is still untested (no 90+ cars in my area right now). It may be possible to use the switch panel directly with the factory module, but i can not confirm that at this time. In either case, bypassing the factory module is a relatively simple procedure, and you will receive more functionality from the DEI modules than stock.

If you would like to discuss over the phone, PM me your number, and I will give you a call.

Thanks
Hans
