I can't get the drivers door to open from the outside since last night. I hooked up the battery on my engineless 82 Euro S last night like I usually do to check electrics. I don't remember exactly what I did at the outside of the passenger door(I think I just pulled up the outside handle) but the door lock cycled(motor sound) for the 1st time since I bought the car in May. I think the passenger door was then locked so I got the key off my workbench and unlocked the passenger door. Later when I tried to open the drivers side door from outside it was locked. I used the key on this driver door and it still wouldn't unlock so I had to open it from the inside. The locks don't cycle for some reason (I have the engine out -don't know if this matters) and I have checked the inline fuses behind ce panel and they are ok. I also have power on both sides of fuse 21 and my windows have power. I had just installed a door speaker on the drivers side and lubed the lock with wd40 from the inside of the door as Merlin suggested. Any ideas what's wrong? The door handle is acting like it's in the locked position and not engaging. Gunar

Reason: added info
Probably a broken door handle hinge. Look it up as to what's involved.
This would be my bet too. Mine has a broken hinge on the driver's side, and nobody but me can open it. Unless you do it exactly the right way, it feels (and acts) just like it is locked.
Thanks guys- I found some stuff on replacing in the search. I'll
add that to my list. By the way I saw you can leave the window open and reach in and open it. Didn't think of that. Of course there is always the Dukes of Hazzard approach to getting in the drivers seat. Gunar
I completed the install of the new/used driver door handle hinge. Got a used one for $25 from 928 International and it took me probably over 4hrs to install. I cleaned and lubed the beautifully engineered lock and latch mechanism(needed it bad). Had to take it back out the 1st time due to the fact I didn't connect the white plastic piece from the lock cylinder. Had to take it out the second time due to the fact there was no clip on the pin that holds the actuator arm from the lock motor. Made a clip out of a round electrical crimp on connector and reinstalled for the last time then closed the door up. I am really good at it now. The electric locks cycle now for the first time since I bought the car in May. Gunar
