82 MM's don't crush like the 83 and up.
How much room/space do you have between the oil pan and the top of the cross member?

The solid rubber MM's on the pre 83 cars do not collapse like the later style.
Does the engine rock side to side when you rev it?

Never noticed it rocking, and it doesn't seem to be very close to the cross-member. They look fine, solid, formed, but I'm dying to figure out why so much heat continues to roll into the cabin through the shifter port, and somewhere else unknown. I've closed off the valve that lets hot water into the heater core. No change. Sprayed gobs of expanding foam up over the TT, helped a lot, but it seems to be returning to it's original state. It's very frustrating considering how bad this summer has been, and my A/C doesn't work. I cannot just not drive this car.

The heat is coming from the foam that surounds the torque tube. Not a easy replacement. I am sure someone here can help with a fix.

Tonight I noticed hot air coming through the door vents, even though I closed off the hot water valve to the heater core. Something else is going on here.

The heater valve maybe bad. The interior can be warped. Easy to check if the heater still produces hot air with the valve shut.

When I first closed the valve with a zip-tie a couple of weeks ago, I opchecked the heating system by maxing out the heat and felt zero rise in temp of the airflow through the center vent. It was straight ambient temp, no changes, so I moved on to the foam-spray up over the TT trick, which worked for a little while, but has since resumed it's normal hot air blowing up through the floorboard under the center console and onto my legs.

Now I've got warmed air coming through the door vents.

from your post you need to follow Wallys post about inspection of the HVAC system.
It sounds like you have one or more inop vacuum pods that are leaking this will let the HVAC system do what it wants.
Go to 928gt.com and on page 2 under tips and links find the thread about HVAC sytems
