'88 5 speed 19,600 miles perfect for sale

That's his asking price and you immediately know the history and what has been done. Pay, turn the key, go.
Odds are you won't find a GT with 19K miles for that price. Nor will you find one taken care of by Captain Earl. With the 5 Speed & LSD that thing is a beast that probably drives like new.
Take a look at the prices Michael Wilhoit gets for a low-mile S4 in similar nick (damn been watching too much Top Gear & Wheeler Dealers).

Indeed. People need to remember how easy it is to drop $8-10K in a 928 if maintenance has been deferred. This one appears to be very well maintained, ready to just get in and go. As such, it's comparable to paying high teens for the car itself - which seems quite reasonable to me for such a low mile example that's so nicely equipped. GLWS!

Plus one on the asking price being reasonable. If you want a car that won't need immediate repairs or major repairs soon after purchase you have to assume a higher entry fee. Anyone with a nice GT with complete maintenance knows what they're worth and I know based upon other cars I've seen sold recently that it's more than $30K.

Plus another one! As someone who owns a car that Earl maintained (part of the deal for the "$50 GT"...you still have that Earl?), let me assure the potential buyer you'd be getting a great machine that's as described.

I never mentioned that Earl had worked on my GT when it was in the hands of Tom Falkenberg. The work performed was done correctly and without any shortcuts. It's been incredibly reliable for a 20+ year old car. He does good work and I'm sure he stands behind it like many of the trusted mechanics here on Rennlist.
Best of luck with the sale Earl.

still a very nice 928.....while the economy sucks and the market is very soft for 928's....I understand why his price is where it is.....seriously how many pristine sub 20k mileage 928's are there in the whole world?????

OTOH it isn't that unusual to find an owner of a really nice car that has zero interest in the monkey business associated with selling a car, and unless some intermediary shows up to handle the details the car may sell fairly cheaply at the first serious cash offer.

The car sold for the asking price. I will let the new owner identify himself if he wants to.
As it turns out, I had another prospect call 15 minutes after selling the car.
Thank you all for the Kudos posted in this thread, it is much appreciated.
The battery died at delivery time (fairly new DIEHARD), so it has a new DEKA. Maybe it is just me, but I have very poor luck with DIEHARD batteries and DEKAs seem to last forever.
