hey guys,, just lett you know the good news
i started two hours ago, and i allready have the waterpump in my hands.

it sure was the wp that was making that horrible noise. tthe belt was tensioned way to hard by the po (i have the tool now)
the realy good thing is ; my engine has not a scratch inside the pumphouse, the waterpump puley has a lot off play, but the propellor itselve was tight.
thank god i stopped driving this car soon enough.

now cleaning , cleaning and take it back together,,,but first ,,,cofee.
i started without breakfast,,,,,,,,
i realy need some eggs and bacon now.

ps,,on a 84 i have no 45° mark,,i did it all on the 0°

ok, the car is fixed, no more bad sounds. started at 8h , finisched at 18h and cleaned all the mess up.
the best thing i did was not driving it with that sound. a further inspection on the pump shows that puller and propellor can be wiggled up and down . if the bearing fails,,,stop the car as fast as possible was the best advice.

as i was repairing the car outside i had de abillity to use the karcher and clean the underside and front of the engine. also discovered that the oilpan bolts where verry loose, i snugged them all back, also the engine is realy oily,,deffenitly needs attention in the future.

tomorrow i can take it on the road, now i need a bath,

oh,,i found the 45°mark,,a little late,,,,i had some troubles with the camgears, ,,,,when removing the belt at 0/t they jump 5 tooth away from 0/T,,,at first i didnt see that and put the belt on,,,,when checking and turning the damper i could not bring the damper and gears at 0/T,i had to restart and set the gears ,,learned a lot now.
the 84 928 is a fine car to work on,

i will check it verry often, i left the passenger side cover of ,,on a 84 its an easy thing to check tension, just open the hood and check.
i have the continental belt, does it stretch more than others?

the old belt was to hard tensioned, 5mm past the thensioner tool, i need to replace the cam gears next time i work on the front, one was showing some wear on top of the teeth. all other gears looked fine. i just replace the 2 camgears.

the tensioner boot was britle and broke when i pushed it in, the o ring inside looked like hard plastic instead of soft rubber.
i am glad i did the job.
i think the po just changed the belt and the 2 rollers some time ago,,maby 5 years.

Super Sweet outcome. Isn't fixing something yourself rewarding! Now you know so much more about the car. Check your motor mounts now. That is a fun, frustrating and rewarding job you can feel the results of. Plan to have a helper there for the day. You can change your oil pan gasket while you are at it.
