Motor mount

Yep Sean, all depends on your helper. Like if I had you for a helper, it wouldn't take us 7-10 hours. If I had my wife, it would take three days.

Yes, he has the cross member out completely. He and I spent a couple of hours trying to get it back into position and we are overlooking something most likely simple. I have removed motor mounts and rfacks and cross members, never put one back, so we have the blind assisting the vision impared.....thanks Don for visiting risc.....looking forward to seeing what you find. I need to MM on two cars now.....so anything that can be learned will be great....

It was good to meet risc and we had some good 928 chat. As far as the MM's go, I think he's pretty close, but the engine looked way too low to me, and not well supported. I suggested he lift the engine a couple of inches first, losen the lower MM bolts and then start trying to get the crossmember back in place. The MM's are bolted to the the engine and crossmember, but the member is too low for it's bolts to match up, and it's a little bit too far forward. The Volvo mounts being slightly taller is probably adding some to the dificulty since the engine is not as high as it should be. The intake is off the engine so there are no reference points that I know of for engine height, which makes it harder to judge where it's sitting. He seems pretty handy with wrenching so I'm sure he'll figure it out.

Don Carter. You are really a good person to look in on this project. You have my thanks and I expect that of many of us on this list.

Very nicely done Don. It's a bit far for me to come down and help.

Wish I had had more time to actually help do some of the work, but I'm swamped getting ready for a business trip. I also learned some cleaning and powdercoating tips while I was there. Always fun to meet other owners.

Sometimes all it takes is someone else to look at it, not even touch it, and it clears your mind. Can't tell you how many times I've had to step away from something, have the wife walk out, point to something and then it clicks.
