Glad you posted, Jeannie........

Lots of long-time folks in this comunity know of and have known of your circumstances. In the most recent "complaint" thread I dearly wanted to point out your trials and tribulations, However it was not my place to do so.

New folks come to renny and find out about the GREAT community and our valued vendors. They engage, with near zero context and expect things to go their way, without any history or understanding of the peoeple, circumstances and personalities involved.

They get hurty feelers when their expectations are not met and find it appropriate to vent their spleen to this community as if their experience is some great revelation to the world.

In my frustration, I am guilty of reacting to such behavior in a non-helpful way.

Someone here complained that the difference between "user" and "member" is a focal point for bias.......

Perhaps the more accurate terms are "member of the community" vs "I wanna join the club".

There seems also an assumption that the valued vendors of this community are somehow not part of this community. Like it is some sort of "we" - "they" relatonship, making it ok to come here and crap on the vendors as if they are not not only valued members of this community, but personal friends as well.

To wit: how many people react well to being told, by a complete stranger, that one of their valued friends is "no good"??? Not many, if ANY. However THAT is nearly exactly what SOME users with limited history and exposure to this community seem to think is appropriate behavior........

It is not.

Anyway.......

Thanks for posting. Sorry things have been so stressful for you guys....... I hope things get better real soon.

I can agree with Andrew about the image of which an 'outsider' can have from the 928 Specialists website / advertising: They have tons of interesting stuff for sale, and this (at least for me) give impression that the business is quite big.

I now have had a chat with Jeannie and she has been really nice to me, just like all of you have told she will be. At least I can now see why things have taken some time... And I absolutely have no problem with that, so there is nothing to be apologized since we are only humans and for example health will always come before business / enthusiasm for cars, etc!

I think this thread is very good for the members like me who can't come there and drink beer with you locals at weekends and talk about 928's & everything forever. And because of that we might not know everything what is happening behind this otherwise excellent forum. I'm sorry to be ignorant about these things, but that's the way it usually is when there is a big ocean between us...for example.

Once again, I hope absolutely all the best for the Roberts family to have strength to overcome health issues and to keep their business together!

Hi Jeannie

I hope things work out and thanks for updating everyone here. There have been a few threads about service and I am glad you have let everyone know what is going on. I wish all the best for you and Dave and I hope your situation improves.

Tell Dave to get well, and do it quick. I know it's been an ongoing deal with him and it's eating him up. Keep up the good work Jeannie, but don't work yourself to ill health. It's not worth it.

Hi Everyone – this is Pam,

Thank you for welcoming me back with such enthusiasm! I am very excited to be working with Jeannie and David again, they are wonderful people and awesome friends! It was great getting to see everyone again, and meet new people, at SITM this year. I am already looking forward to the next event. You guys are the best!

Thanks again for all your kind words and support. It is my pleasure to be a part of the 928 community again.

Hi Michael,

It wasn't easy, I put in a lot of long hours, and very long weekends the 6 weeks leading up to the event. However, we have put on SITM for 13 years now, and while things do change, most of the prep work (what I do) stays the same. I kind of have it down to an art form at this point. Pam was also available to help with the party this year, and I have absolutely awesome friends (who also happen to own 928’s) that come to town early just to help me out with the last minute details. Getting to see all of you at SITM is the highlight of our year, every year, I was going to get it done one way or the other

I hope Dave recovers soon!

Those of us that know Pam are thankful that she is available to assist in this temporary crisis, but hope she can stay on even after Dave is back to his normal self...

Get well soon my friend, the shark world needs you back to 100%.

Jeannie,

What a perfect post you made to start this thread (at the same time, being saddening that it was required to be posted). I've known for a while, through one of our many mutual friends that you were dealing with a lot of difficulty and stress. I'm so glad ALL the community can now understand both what you've been trying to deal with, and also glad that Pam will be back in the "Specialists" fold to assit you with the business activities.

Sorry it wasn't possible for me to attend SITM this year, as the time with you and David, as well as the rest of your "family" is always one of my automotive highlights of the year.

Kitty and I both send our best to you and David, and your stresses will be in our prayers as we "plug along" in our lives. You two, as well as the other faithful suppliers to this wonderful collection of 928 owners/enthusiasts are truly a blessing for all of us, and we don't often thank you enough for what you do, and for what you've done. Here's my "THANKS".

God Bless,

Gary Knox

Hey, I remember you. You were the gal picking up the trash while everybody was having a good time.

Putting you guys on the prayer list, right at the top. Positive thinking is always good, even if you are too polite to ask. You all have a lot more friends than you would ever imagine. If you ever need anything, just ask. We are here for you.
