finally got through on the phone.... apparently the hardware either wasn't sent or they just dropped the ball. Regardless, 928SP was extremely apologetic and had the company send out another set which I was assured will arrive tomorrow.

Took long enough, but the situation was handled with no hard feelings.

So, a short conversation took care of the problem, and the purpose of this thread was... what?????

Well, that's the beef here... many of us don't want to hear these "They didn't return my one phone call in one day so that's why I'm here bashing them in a public forum" threads, of which there have been many lately.

These threads are just plain UGLY to look through, and in half the cases, it quickly becomes clear that the complainer is ultimately the one who jumped the gun and ends up looking a lot more like the unreasonable, self-entitled problem customer than the vendor ends up looking like the crook.

If you want to vent, do it to your spouse. They are obliged to listen to you complain - we are not.

So all that said, these recent complaints seem to be focused on 928 Specialists in particular, with non-communication being the essential complaint. Seems like a same-day call-back policy would serve them very well right now...

IMHO, a negative post about one of the 928 specialist vendors (and sponsors of this site) should only begin with" "Well guys, I've tried every avenue to fix this issue, and now I'm forced to go public as the next step would involve lawyers...."

Otherwise, don't bother posting and deal with the problem off line.

I ordered something from 928 specialists. Took a long time to receive my order , 21/2 months and many phone calls before I received a call back. I wasn't happy about it but that's life. I have ordered from other vendors and they have been on the ball to say the least. Especially that guy in Texas!

Will I order from 928 specialistd again, sure I will. I like that sharkvent! I won't expect it right away though and that's OK. I can see why the guy is hazy but the thread is a lot better because of all the pic's!

There is a passion associated with creating/supplying parts for 928's, we work on more 996's than 928's anymore but I am still creating parts for 928's.

As I have proven to our resellers in our recent rollout of the cat back system, sometimes things are simply out of our hands. Tubing benders breaking and requiring maintenance, muffler suppliers not having things ready when they said they would. Even dealing with our bender having bigger/more profitable jobs to put in front of our project. There is nothing we could do other than apologize to our customers/resellers for things out of our control.

I don't know what the deal is with 928 Specialists in this situation but it's amazing how any one of the vendors can have 1500 transactions go perfectly and it's the one that doesn't work right that gets all the press. There are always at least two sides to every story and we have only heard one.

If it were me, I would have already been to the hardware store and the project would have been done. Washers? BFD! If you are worried about having strong enough hardware...simply go stronger.
Dave, you may enjoy the cars, but it's still a business. If you couldn't make a living doing it, I'm sure you would go back to doing something else.

BTW, I'm glad you posted. It reminded me that I need to call you and place an order. I'll talk to you in a bit.

I'm sure that when a mistake is made when filling an order, it isn't done on purpose. I still think people should be able to bitch about it without getting hammered but thats just me.

These vendors hold a special place in this community. Outside of outright fraud, nothing positive is accomplished by publicizing small complaints. We have all dealt with them and know that they will work to resolve any issues, so the post ends up reflecting poorly on the original poster instead. These vendors are small owner operated businesses working in a small niche of the automobile enthusiast world. Things will happen and it's in all of our best interest to support them and resolve these issues privately whenever possible.

Otherwise, maybe we should open up a thread and ask them to complain about some of their customers, by name. Now that would be an interesting read!

I would chime in to agree with the observation that there are very few people out there providing custom parts to upgrade your 928. Most of the "companies" doing aftermarket 928 parts, are one or two person operations. If they get sick of dealing with a bunch of babies, and drop out of it, like Devek did, then you don't have a place to get sway bars at all. I'd rather have a few mistakes, and have to wait a while, rather than have them quit doing business altogether. It's one thing to complain about the Porsche dealership, or a large company that is supposed to have excellent customer service. But if it's a small organization, cut them some slack...

I have seen more than one vendor/inventor leave the 928 world because of a huge wad of . And it is really a damn shame.

So instead of picking up the phone again to make sure there wasn't a problem between them and a supplier, you bashed them then picked up the phone and got it resolved. I'm not a fan of that kind of behavior.
