Default Rear Hatch Struts

I just purchased a set of rear hatch struts for my 86.5 928. I am alarmed at how much force is needed to move them. I weigh 215lbs and it takes almost all of my weight to move them. Is it normal for them to be this stiff? I do not want to damage the mount points on the rear hatch because the struts are too strong.

Should be 100Lb springs for the rear hatch and 40Lbs for the hood.

He is referring to the hatch struts - they should not be that hard to close.
Rear hatch will no go up by itself.

It is not clear that they are installed so off the car it is hard to compress a 100 lb strut with your hand !

They are Spring Lift struts. There from from 928 international. I have not mounted them yet. I did a little more accurate test with my bathroom scale and it appears it takes about 110lbs of force to make them move so it looks like that is what they are supposed to be, but you wouldn't think they would need to be that strong. That rear hatch must be HEAVY.

If they are from 928 International they will be the right parts so no problem.
To compress the struts by hand is very difficult.
