\/ \/ \/ \/ \/ The first one is obviously bad but is the second one really a problem? \/ \/ \/ \/ \/

There's another thread where I fought through a serious case of denial on the ground strap. After all, my battery is externally vented so no corrosive fumes. I do serious annual battery terminal maintenance, so mine looked and smell like new. Meter said the strap was fine. I replaced the the positive cable chasing a battery life and voltage problem, after replacing the alternator. FINALLY, I popped for a new heavy duty battery ground strap and all is well in the charging universe again.
I'm convinced that any 928 that still has the original strap is a 928 that will benefit from a new one. I bought several 2ga straps from Waytek Wire online, used one and passed the other three to Rob for his fleet and his stepchild the Hebert turquoise project. A bit of heat shrink makes it enough like the original appearance that it will pass concourse muster, plus I routed a charging pair in the same sleeve to have a plug in the tool panel that's live even with the strap lifted from the cross member. Half hour of work or less, excellent results.'

I've always wondered what a good soaking in DeOxit would do to something like that. I'll try it and take pictures if somebody sends me a bad one.

Green like that is copper sulfate?
Some of the copper obviously is not copper any more, but if its just the surface the current carrying capacity might not be reduced much, but the connection is very poor. Poor connection, even slightly and the amount of current flowing back and forth will create some serious heat. That a long why of my saying if it was cleaned it might be fine for some time.
New cables and good vent tubes though is a no brainer.

I have autozone batteries installed in both my cars. As far as I can see the enclosure that the battery sits in has ventilation slots. So do I need to do anything special to ventilate the battery? Or the ventilation slots are adequate?
I have never had any problems with my batteries.

I’m not an expert on anatomy, but I dissected a couple worms in junior high school. With that round end at one end of the strap and the long flat piece on the other, I think it's asexual. That aside, this strap from 928 Intl for $29.95 seems like a real bargain!
