WOT is kinda the reason to own one these things. I honestly didn't understand that my car is perfectly happy at 5 and 6k rpms until I had owned it couple years. I now open it up at basically every opportunity.
If you haven't really got on her yet, give it a try, it's amazing.
now my friend, have you checked your ball joints yet?

Since everyone else is taking a stab at this question.......every chance I get.
I didn't install the supercharger to be something shiny under the hood

I try to hit WOT with every car I own every time I drive them as often as possible. It's what they are designed to do.

Yes my daily driver is rated 34ish mpg and I average about 20.......

Okay how about this...

The gains in wrapping your inlet tubes are lost on the added weight of wrapping the inlet tubes.

To reduce idle in traffic heat gains you are wrapping the wrong end of the airstream. Wrapping the headers will more significantly reduce under hood heat gains, ie., you wouldn't have worry about the inlet tube heat if they weren't exposed to the heat in the first place.

I prefer a good ceramic coating. Here is what I did with the headers for the Ferrari in my avatar:

Always hear people say wrapping is a fire hazard. I bought a 944 Turbo with 10K on a rebuilt motor with nicely wrapped headers and crossover. Drove it another 10K without any fire problems. Had a couple of oil leaks too. I would, of course, prefer a good ceramic coating.

Red Herring!
Oil leaks are a fire hazard, not wrapping your headers.
Actually, from the numerous leaks I've had on my Mini, I've found the smoke (and chance of fire) was worse with unwrapped headers. Ceramic coated & then wrapped would be ideal.

I too think that insulating the intakes would have negligible effect on a normally aspirated car.
That shroud on the other hand looks great.

You couldn't pay me to wrap my exhaust:

I've also seen my fare share of headers un-wrapped to be a ball of rust underneith. The wrap does a good job of trapping moisture in there. Yes, these were also coated.

I was being a bit facetious with my comment, improperly use of smiley??

How about wrapping headers then wrapping the wrap with that exhaust repair tape stuff.

My Euro S2 EZ-F intake airfilter box has an air temp sensor (Temp1) for the EZ-F (retards igntion when intake air temps are high).

When Sharktuning the EZ-F and monitoring Temp 1, I was making a series of acceleration runs, then stopping to check results and edit the maps. I noticed how quickly the intake temp rose to the retard point with the car sitting at idle.

The most surprising thing was how slowly the intake temp dropped when I started to drive again at cruise speeds. So there is some scope for improvement here, certainly extending the air intake scoops forward away from the radiator. Need to be careful not to make the intake more sucessible to picking up water though.

Doesn't it start to retard at 120 degree F? I don't remember how we tested Shane's but that was our conclusion.

cruise is part throttle, and who cares what your timing, or intake temps are during cruise. its a fine tuning element. at WOT, check the temps, thats all that matters.
