Default '93 GTS Rare Factory Widebody DTS?

I've come across a lot of scammers thruout the years but this guy really takes the cake. For under $25K, you walk away with a "rare limited production factory-widebody" '93 GTS.

Since I don't seem to know my 928 lineage well enough, can somebody decipher the meaning of DTS?

Looks like a Japanese car with the sidemarkers and mini-flares over the front arches.

There's no scam or cake to be eaten. I would assume the seller mistakingly typed a "D" instead of a "G", thus GTS and not DTS. Looks like a very nice car with original factory Japanese front fender flares.

Yea, he is an idiot for not proof reading his advert in the first place and then even more of a dolt for not knowing what he is selling... standard Euro market GTS converted for use in Japan (unless it is RHD, then it would be either an ACTUAL Jap. market car OR a UK/Aust car converted for Japan's roads)...they all look like that in Japan...or at least they are supposed to. Just like all the EURO cars that come to the US should have the rear bumperettes, but some don't. There are probably some EURO or GB 928's in Japan w/o the (I think) ugly fender flares (incidentally, it should have them behind the rear wheels as well...you can see Chuck Z's addition of the same bits to the rear of his US car).

Looks like a Japanese GTS. There's usually about one GTS per month on the Japanese internet auction site. $25K may seem pretty good for a GTS, but the seller would still be making good $$$ at that price. Plus, the kicker is that it would probably be next to impossible to import into the States.

If I'm wrong about the Japanese part, then it would likely be a smokin' deal. The part that makes me unsure about the origins is the "2nd Owner, upgraded Bluetooth Stero complete books and records from day one" part. That is not typical of the cars from Japan.

Just out of curiosity - why would it be next to impossible to import Japanese car into US?

Two kinds of Japanese cars... Euro models and US models...both are available over there..and both require conversion to enter the Japanese market..but if it's a Euro underneath (this one is..euro side markers are one key)..then it would be the same as importing a Euro to the US...Ask James...you can do it..but it's not cheap or easy....

if it was a US car first..then it could conceivably come in to the US relatively easily..

The reason that car is in Canada is that their import laws differ from the US. They can (if I remember correctly) import any car that is 15 years or older without any issue...

Scam? seriously?

Scam why because of a misspelling? DTS instead of GTS

Give me a break

and clearly you have never seen a japanese market 928 before. I don't think I've EVER seen a Japanese 928 WITHOUT THOSE FLARES ON THE FRONT. Its ironic your blabbering on because someone else doesn't know their 928 lineage here. What do they call that? Oh yeah... Ironic.

That being said its no small task to LEGALLY import a grey market care here in the states.... at least to do it officially.

That's right. And also why we have something of a flood of older upper-end European cars (Porsche, M-B & BMW) up here. It also explains why we have a ton of RHD Japanese cars (Skylines, 300ZX & RX-&) as well.

Most of the Japanese imports have very low miles. That's not always a good thing, though, as these cars have been made for driving, not sitting in a garage for most of the year. Lots of deferred maintenance issues...

Tom is quite correct. He and I have talked about the trial and tribulations of EURO import to the US. It can be done but it is costly...usually in both time and money. BTDT... If you found THE PERFECT Euro car that you just COULDN'T live without...it might be worth doing to you but in the long run if you found a US car with either the correct interior or exterior you were looking for it would probably be cheaper to change the interior or color to what you want than it would be to buy the car in Europe and import it.

That said, if ANYONE can find me one of the Riviera or Maritime Blue GTS's (all are Euro models I believe...I don't think a single US model was built in either of those colors) I will buy it and do the whole import dance one more time! Have the poster on the wall of that car (one of those cars I should say.)

That car has been for sale for about 4 months. I'm surprised it has not sold yet at that price.

Price looks fair. The last 3 or 4 GTS sold in Japanese's auction sold on average for 1,200,000 yens (14,000 USD). If you add shipping and all fees for importing it to Canada, you are close to 19,000 USD.
