Saw this clip in the local Toronto Sun Newspaper this morning that offers up the proof that admitting to speeding in an open forum such as this one can lead to a conviction, at least for the Canadian Courts. I have seen good advise given here on this forum not to do so on numerous occasions, so thanks to those RL who offered that advise. Others pay heed.

Dont think he was convicted simply because of his bragging about excessive speeding.
Probably did trigger the police to follow the guy and 'catch him in the act' which in turn led to his penalty, etc.
Would find it very hard to believe that anyone could get fined or convicted simply by stating somthing on a forum.

Well if a statement in an open forum such as this can be used a proof in a court of law, here goes...
"I never go faster than the speed limit!"
"I always come to a complete stop at a stop sign."
hmm, I could be here all day.

Hearsay statements by a party in interest are admissible, in contravention of the evidence rule against hearsay, only if they are against the partie's interest, not if they are in support of their position.
It appears that this guy gave enough information in his post to support a conviction all by itself, assuming they could tie it to him. He was also probably stupid enough to admit that it was his post and not somebody playing a joke on him.

If he had refused to talk to the police, or said it was a lie they could never pin it to him due to the fact that it was not stated under oath and could be exagerated for entertainment or even completely fictional.
That said, I do not condone speeding in rural areas. On our freeways though the speedlimits are stupid low.

I just don't see how a post in a forum could be acceptable as the ONLY evidence of breaking the law unless the post itself is the offence. I could see how it might lead to investigation, but not as the only evidence. I could be lying to brag about how fast my car can go.
I was pulled over once in a hopped up 914 on the interstate. The officer asked how fast my car would go. I said, "I don't know, but my mechanic says it will do 150mph." He said he asked because he was curious as to whether he could catch a car like mine, or to just radio for a trap. He then said his cruiser would do 135mph and he thought he could catch me. I asked him if he wanted to drive my car and see if he still believed that statement. He didn't take me up on the offer, and I didn't get a ticket either.
