If the wheel weights are centered over the caliper, they will rub a bit.

Not sure if it matters, but this is a 79 spindle with the stock mounts cut off and new mounts for these calipers welded on.

The factory paint is long gone.

That's great you got them to work.
When I converted the '78 to S4 brakes (using the purchased aluminum adapters) I discovered that the phone dials then didn't fit. Man was I bummed!

Only had my '78 since the summer of '90. Didn't have any paint then. Don't know how it came from the factory.

But 16x8 and 16x10 phone dials, highly polished would be just right for me.

The 7" PD's just don't do it for me anymore.

What exactly didn't fit.

Mine are 8.5"

The problem with a 16" wheel that is much wider is tire size. There isn't much (if any) performance tire to fit a 9x16 or larger. In fact, there isn't really anything for my wheels either, which is why I'm not using them.

I forget. Maybe the internal diameter? I had repainted them a nice silver/bronze. LOVED them, I was sooo bummed when they wouldn't fit. They still had nice sticky Yoko's on them, too.
I remember that the flat-dish 16's off the cannibalized euro interfered with the face of the S4 front calipers, also. Front spacers would've fixed that, but I just went to 17's.

Thanks man. I got the wheels free from from a guy that went in a different direction. They were pretty well scuffed up. I stripped and prepped them myself and then when I couldn't get the paint to come out the way I wanted, I took them to a local paint shop.

I really like the way they came out and I get a lot of compliments on them.

I have 16" on my '79 5 speed. Someone told me that they came standard on 5 speeds on the OBs.
