Default Possible trades at Hell

A couple of weeks ago a local 928 guy came over to my house to help me with a few odds and ends. After looking over the engine bay, he thought my current cooling set up was overkill (fan and radiator). Since my car needs lot's off love, he thought it would be a great opportunity to see if anyone would be interested in swapping an OEM radiator and fan set up with cash or equal value trade.

See pictures below and tell me what you think. I'll be at the Hell meeting on Saturday with a few INDY928 guys.

thanks jpc

That is odd an odd request. What you have on there is good stuff. Leave it be.

I'll also try and bring some loose odds and ends I have laying around. I have a set of polished 16' dish wheels (I think they are all 8" width - I know they are all the same size) that I'd be willing to let go cheap. Old tires are still shod. Not sure if I want to bring them unless someone is interested.

Good idea swap out "new" parts for some 20-24 year old parts from someone who is probably having a cooling problem...... seems a bit like cutting off your arm because you are hungry and want something to eat !

The cost, time and effort in swapping radiators would probably just about negate the value … but since you live down the street, I might be crazy enough to take you up on it. I would have to check with Hans to see what he was thinking. If it one of those motorsport radiator with built in intercoolers, that might work. Flip side is it might be thicker and not fit with the Murf Supercharger. The electric fans do nothing for me.

On a different note… I know you have a brand new brake booster sitting in a box and that is definitely worth some money or trade value. Mine works fine, but I wouldn't mind a shiny new one. Too bad you paid big money for new air intakes... I definitely could have hooked you up there.

I have a bunch of stuff I could bring like intake tubes, NOS pre S4 master brake cylinder, NOS pre S4 rear springs, a recently restored and never installed instrument pod, a Blaupunkt Seattle head unit I spent $300 plus on a couple years back (I believe I still have the original receipt and box… it plays MP3 off cd’s and has aux in for iPod, but it doesn’t control one). Plus I have a box full of parts I replaced that I don’t think were really broken just because I was in there.

Oh yeah, and I have some fairly used $500 Porsche OEM motor mounts free to a good home!

I was the crazy guy that suggested this. He has an $800 radiator and $600 fan system sitting in a stock S4. Also, the noise level from this fan system is much louder than stock at idle - you hear the fans instead of the engine. I suggested that Phil would probably be better off trading the fans to someone plus a couple bucks to kill two birds with one stone - contribute to the restoration fund and reduce the noise level.

The radiator is a nice piece (I have one), but again overkill. If someone wanted to swap him for a known good stock one and a couple bucks, it may not be a bad deal for both parties.

So, thats the full story. I think Phil would be happy with stock fans and the 928MS radiator, but those SLC fans are WAY overkill for him.

........and then 6 months down the road, the swapped radiator starts to leak!!! Now you'll have to get the same C&R radiator you have, but at full price. Maybe swap the fans but not the rad.

I'd give up a lot of things on a 928 before I gave up a btu of cooling capacity.

I have a brand new or should I say never installed one of these.

http://www.kondratyev.com/porsche/products/pods.htm

By the time you ship one back and forth and include the core charge, they are about $250.

I'll sell mine for $125 if anyone is intersted? It's the standard black color.

I bought this to install in my car until Paul came along and distracted me. Been sitting in my office for about 5 years now.

Hey Kurt,

I would be interested in your pod...mine has a couple hair-line cracks. See you tonight at the Ram!

Troy,
