Most of the time mine is off unless the Rev limiter is riding shotgun, then it's..

Just took a reading in my 82 with the windows down at 60 mph with the Alpine blasting and showed 95dB's. I normally listen slightly lower, but not much. My right ear is ringing.

Careful, that ringing is the first sign of hearing damage.

Years ago I was doing a modest stereo upgrade to my Jeep Cherokee at a local stereo shop. They were trying to talk me into going big. Had a guy show up in an S10 blazer and asked me if I want to sit in his car to hear the stereo. The guy "tawd lide he touldn hear nery well." I refused. He got in his truck to drive away. When his stereo came on his doors and windows were shut, my pants legs vibrated to the music that I thought was too loud and cupped my ears sanding 20ft from the truck. Within minutes the stereo shop got a noise complaint from an office building 1/2 block away. It was rattling their windows.

At the time I was doing upscale home stereo installs. I ear picked speakers to go in the stock locations in my Jeep. I had a little knowledge of what to expect from the enclosures in the stock locations. The stereo shop guy kept trying to talk me into going with their big watt stuff. I told him to put the components I picked in and if it didn't sound good he could put whatever he wanted in my jeep. He excitedly installed the components sure that I was nuts and he had a big sale coming. After the install he couldn't believe just how good it sounded and without any equalization. Several years later I went to the same stereo shop to upgrade the sound in my 90GT. The sales guy that I had worked with before now owned the shop and two others. He told me that because of my Jeep install he went to school for sound reproduction and that it had driven him to take over the stereo shop. His shop had won all kinds of car sound off awards always taking the award for sound quality.

You never know what effect you will have on others.

My ears are not anything like they used to be when I was in my 20's.

Seriously, good job. I was just kidding about my ears ringing. My right ear is plugged with ear wax right now.

Playing it loud is likely to damage your hearing long term, with hearing loss and tinnitus likely. I can tell you from experience this is not nice.
