Default Check me offset calculation! ...as a scotsman would say

I have a 1989 S4. The rear rims are 18x10 ET 58, shod with 285/35/18" tires. My calculations say I will be 26mm closer to the suspension system and 14mm closer to the fender than OEM.

Do you think a 10mm spacer would work to fit as close to the fender without rubbing?

The front rims are 18x8 ET 54, shod with 235/40/18" tires. My calculations say I am 16mm closer to the fender than OEM.

Seems a bit too close to the fender...maybe not...?

Actually, I think without the spacer it may rub on the inside. It'll be close for sure.

I can't remember if the rear fender lips are rolled on the 89. They are on the '91. If ther are a 10mm spacer will work fine. If not, it will be close, but I think you'll still have a few mm of room.

I checked me fenders and they don't feel rolled to me. I think only the 89' GT had them rolled at that time.

I think you'll still be okay. But I'd wait go get your spacers until you get the tires and wheels on just to be sure.

I wonder if there is a local shop I can get the spacers. Any ideas?

I dunno about local, but wheelenhancement carries a variety in stock. That's where I got my 3mm spacers.

For stock wheel studs I would not go any thicker than a 6mm slide on spacer to make sure there's enough thread left on the stud.

For bolt on wheel spacers, Vertex Auto has good quality and pricing, but don't remember if they have anything less than 15mm.

Yeah, the more I am reading, the more I want the style that bolts on. I think H&R has some that I think will work. First I will see how the wheel/tire looks tomorrow.
