what is the temp of your thermostat if its an 82 then you should,be seeing about 190
a 75 would give about 180
A few things you can do make sure the rear thermostat seal is good put a fresh thermostat in if its older than 5 years add water wetter to the coolant, pull the fuse for the flaps if you have them. Blow out the radiator from the back with compress air then rinse it out with water from behind ( best to remove the radiator and do this off the car) it will keep the elex parts from getting wet

No. The upper hose is the outlet. Water passes through it on its way to the radiator to be cooled. If you've got a 190 degree thermostat, then you're exactly where you should be.
