Ventilation fan only runs on HI - WHY??
In the process of screwing around with my car, I noticed that the ventilation fan was only kicking in when turned to the highest setting. I remember reading about this very recently and searched, but I could not find it.
Anyone know what caused this?

From my reading, it sounds like my problem may have been caused by fussing with the center console and loosening the connector to the control head.
Agreement?

Scratch that - I am now confused. There are two different suggestions in this thread.
Is this even fixable?
And how is it that I've never recalled reading about this before...

Certainly, if you had recently fussed with the console, check the plugs on the headunit. If it were the fuse, the blower would not operate at all. If it were the relay, the blower would only operate in defrost mode. If it operates only in the high-speed switch setting, it's almost always a blower resistor pack fault. The resistor pack can be opened up, cleaned and tweaked to restore normal function, but I've never been successful at doing that. You can replace the pack in 10 minutes. Unplug the resistor pack harness. Put a large screw into a hole present on the backside of the resistor pack, tie a string to it, unbolt the resistor pack from the blower plenum and allow it to drop into the plenum. Reach into the plenum from the booted opening between the blower and the plenum and fish out the pack with a coat hanger hook or part retriever. Move the screw and string over to the new resistor pack and pull it back into position on the plenum and rebolt.

I would just buy the new resistor, i think they are either $40 or $70
I tried to mess with cleaning them and i think it worked BETTER but it didn't eliminate the problem.

Thanks guys!
Bill - I will definitely check the wiring before I replace the part. BTW, is it this part? Also, I have to get at this part from the engine bay, right?
Do we have a list of the signature 928 part failures and breakdown causes? I want to start checking them off so I know when this will end.
