Pretty cool that something like this exists. I doubt it comes from or through Porsche - have never seen this in a 928 before.
But I have great respect for Nakamichi. Back in Germany, I used to have a Nakamichi tape deck that was so much better than any other tape deck I've ever owned.

That our guess too Nicole,
It looked like a factory install so we would think it was done by Porsche japan. They may have ordered the cars without a stereo and fitted this instead. the car also have Nakamichi Head unit / speakers and even Nakamichi "for" Porsche wiring which we found amusing.

Sean,
Nakamichi were/are the top end of the range of cassette recorders, CD players, stereo amps and home surround sound for DVDs etc., so it sound logical that this would be installed into 928s sold in Japan, as an option in 1990.
I have a a Nakamichi cassette deck from when I lived in Japan and I have seen them in some coutries that I have visited, but not all that well known outside Japan.
I would suggest that the amp would be difficult to sell and would be like a lot of my Japanese stereo equipment, home and car, difficult to give away if it is 20 years old.
I have a 1965 Akai M8 valve amp open reel tape player with speakers, which was excellent in its day and it will probably end up in the dump.
You may get some money if you sold the whole set up, but then again 1990 car stereo compared to 2010 car stereo equipment, there is no comparison, unless someone has a lot of cassettes tapes and wants a period car stereo unit.

Specs for the PA-102 are 2x 14W amplifier.. not much by modern head unit or amp standards. Looks like this setup was to run all the speakers - guessing one amp for doors, one for the 6.5's, and one for the rear 4's and tweeters.
Interesting that it looked like factory wiring - does the car have any option codes which may explain it? (if you can, the last 4 digits of VIN will be enough for me to get the options list).
Was it installed in the factory passenger seat location?
Probably cost a mint back in the 90's - their tape decks certainly did, and sounded awesome.

Hi tails
To tell you the truth i just didnt want to throw it out cause it was kinda cool. if anyone wants it they just have to pay to ship it.
Hi Hilton
thats right it was setup to run all the speakers, i should have recorded the Vin, the amp has been sitting in the corner of our workshp for about 3 years. i did some cleaning today and found it. It was installed under the drivers seat.

I like nakamichi eq use the head units in my Porsche's and I still have my 680ZX cassette deck which rarely gets used but a great unit.
