Frank,
Are these for you '85? If so, you won't be able to use the stock (21mm) spacer.
235/35 - 285/30 sounds good.
You will need a 12-16mm spacer for the rear. You will need to keep you ride height within the Porsche spec for the front, or you will have rubbing (somewhere around 160/165mm).
If you choose 295's for the rear, you will need a smaller spacer, and may have to deal with the long wheel studs.

Did a quick google search..

I haven't used Vertex yet..but suspect there are also other race part suppliers (pegasus, saferacer, etc) who would have them..

Yes. It makes a noticeable difference.
Not that I'm aware of, Frank. 245 may not fit on the front of earlier stock models as the GTS has more flare to the front fenders. Perhaps someone can verify.
Installation of a larger front sway bar will also help in reducing understeer, but make sure you reinforce the attachment points first.
Correct, sir.

Hey Jim, actually, they are for the project car - MY87S4. I just finished making my wheels and tire selections based upon a lot of good forum advise...here and in that post. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-and-pics.html

James,
I would try your local tire place (discount tire or whatever)...just make sure the base of the nut has the proper taper to it..( I think the Porsche ones are a rounded taper)...
