FYI - if you do a quick Google search under "609 Certification" it is quite easy and quite cheap to get your certification to let you buy real freon 12. ($20 if I recall when I did mine). You download a PDF manual and take a short on-line quiz.

This will let you order Freon 12 from any number of vendors on EBAY, which is how I usually stock up when I need it for myself or some of my friends who still drive 80s BMWs, Porsches, and Mercedes.

Freon 12 has actually gotten pretty cheap, I'm guessing because there is a lot of it still out there but hardly any cars use it anymore. Both of my 80s cars still run Freon 12 and it has been no problem to purchase.

John, You'll probably want to do that AC service before our GTG and the other stuff we're doing to your car. Most of the AC service will be done from above the car. All the other things we're doing to your car at the GTG will be from below the car, so it can't be done concurrently.

A side note: I am doing my AC on the stepson this week. I have the 4000lb (exaggeration) vacuum pump and the gauges. You are welcome to come over.

Very tempting... what day this week? [I'm out on business again starting today through Wednesday]

I am working on the Stepson tonight and beyond, but you are welcome to come over any night you can. It's date night on Friday, though.
