Thorney Island Drag Racing...UK 928 RECORD TAKEN :)
Hi All
Just got back from Thorney Island Drag Racing and my best time after a LOT of problems with my controllers electrics was......
13.035 @ 113.3 mph....
Which is now the new 928 UK record
I could have carried on but I shredded the Aircon belt and the noise frightened the life out of me lol.....I thought I had burnt out a valve ...lol
So I decided discretion being the better part of valour, I would leave it at that
I will post a scan of the slip later this evening
All the best Brett

Were you the first one to run a 928 at the strip?
And considering your unlimited boasts and brags about your 5000 hp engine, you can't really sell "discretion being the better part of valour" very well.

Hi
The previous record was this..... http://www.dragtimes.com/Porsche-928-Timeslip-8727.html
That was ADRIAN CLARKE the guy in the UK who races 928`s and was in a Supercharged 5 ltr GT...
I am still testing my new system and increasing power extremely slowly and my record run was done with a small amount of Nitrous...
This was just to prove to all the doubters that my new REVO system DOES work....they all said "show us some times etc" well now I have !
I think taking a record at the first attempt proves that....
I don`t need to improve my time......my car is intended for Top Speed runs....so until someone breaks my record in the UK (which will take a 12) , I doubt if I will run the 1/4 again...

The reaction time has no effect on ET.You could sleep at the light all day and the ET clock only starts when you break the beam.

Hi
At last a sensible comment, I was about to give up on this thread... lol
I increased the Nitrous in small steps ,starting at 70 hp, as I am still testing this system and that final run was done with precisely 210 hp...with the new Revo system there are no jets at all, its all worked out on percentages.
I could easily have increased the power by another hundred or two and run again, and almost certainly run a 12, but after the belt shredding and being uncertain of any wiring damage to my Revo system or its driver box, and having taken the record, I decided to call it quits.
I realise that to some of you Americans (not you )it may not seem like much , but you have to remember that in the UK there are only 2 full time Drag tracks and the odd one off like this one....thats maybe 20 opportunities in total to drag a 928...per year !
To be honest I am SO PLEASED that I have the record now I really don`t care about the other comments...
Anyone who thinks that getting a 928 to run a 13.03 is easy, should try it and see lol

i saw this car at a track day at castle combe a few years back , didnt look like it had much done to the engine except the nos, even stock headers.
brett gets a lot of stick but he has put his money where his mouth is beating adrians uk 928record for the quarter mile.
i found with a stripped out gt2 with 500+ hp that i could get down into the low 11 sec with some wider rear wheels an sticky tyres. after all as you increase the power its the only thing touching the ground.
traction must be a problem for you?, our gts race car can struggle for grip on 9 inch wheels with only 360-370 hp. well done brett.

The track was truly awful as it was an old unused airfield, so no traction whatsoever lol...
I had to turn down the Nitrous so it didn't come in until I had "some" traction after 20 to 30 ft.....I also had to turn off my electronic "burn out mode" as no point in using it at all...
Mine is on 18 x 10 with 285`s.....
Thanks for the appreciation

Once you get the wiring and belt fixed, how much more nitrous do you plan to ad to the motor? The 13 is a very good run.I would guess 100more would bring it in lower 12's if the motor can handle 200 dip into the 11's.Not sure how much it can handle being stock rods and pistons?
Being the 60 foot time is 2.4 seconds, see where you said 20 to 30 feet after you left the line the nitrous turned on.
Also does it come on all at once or progressive?
