I limit this to the 308/328 since the others are well known high maintenance. Approach it like we do on this forum, buying parts from independent vendors and lots of DIY, and you're going to be pretty close to 928 maintenance. I hope.
As another Mark with a 308 the above is very true, but also applies to the 348 (except for the timing belt service every two years).

With regards to the fuel hoses amd other hoses I also had all the hoses replaced soon after buying the car and I have to say I had no issues with this car at all.

If I buy another Ferrari it will be either a 348 GTB or a 456M.

I had an opportunity to drive a 328GTS for a short stretch, and thought it felt more like a glorified FIAT than some supercar. I really appreciated the opportunity, but I wasn't overly impressed.

It's the total opposite of a 928. Not very ergonomic, little torque, no power steering. It corners nicely, and once you rev the engine, you get decent power. But the thought of maintaining one feels more like a nightmare to me, based on what the owner told me.

IIRC, Engine needs to come out to replace timing belt; a major service can go into the 5-digits. Ouch!

Thank you, these two are kept in Monaco. The picture was taken last year when we took both cars from the UK back to Monaco.

Best Bang (Ferrari) for the buck:

550 or 456.

Mark A has/had the successor to the 456, a 612...he might be able to comment on the platforms capabilities compared to a nice stroker GTS??

I agree with the 550 being a bang for your buck. You also don't have to take the motor out to do the timing belt services. Clutches go fast if you aren't careful.

The 550 is a great car no doubt about it. And I absolutely love the 612, the ultimate cross country express. FoA has a 2005 titanium/natural 612 with 8k miles on the showroom floor right now asking $125k. Still too rich for my blood, but they will be half that price in 5 years or less. $60k will get you a nice 550 right now and if you're willing to hit the auctions you can find one a lot cheaper than that.

The 456 is probably the best comparison to a 928 in terms of the design and intent, and they can be picked up for the price of a good GTS now.

Perhaps, but I don't think that's a significant proportion. Most people know they're not devious enough to pull off a felony. Some people don't know they're not devious enough. The rest are devious enough...

Dropping the enigne in a 355 is not a big deal.

Sure beats having to pull the motor or cutting a hole in the fender just to replace a clutch master...

Everything is a tradeoff. Taking the clutch out of a 355 you can almost do without lifting the car. Where as most people cannot comprehend how to adjust an early 928 clutch.
