Default Integrated headlights

I am considering getting Carls clip for my car at some point in the future, however I wish it to remain street-legal, so I would need some headlights. Rather than try to get the pop-up lights to fit and work, I think it might be easier to design projector-type headlights that can be grafted straight into the clip and not need the pop-up mechanism (see pic below for general idea). Of course, I know many love the frog lights (haha, get it?!?!), but for me they have never been a strong selling point (or a point of weakness, for that matter). Has anyone done a conversion similar to this, or alternatively, have ideas for existing headlights that might not spoil the lines on the 928? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,

recently I searched for a friend of mine and his Strosek Ultra same conversion possibilities and found this one that is done by Fiat lamps.

To, me the frog-lights are part of Sharky's identity and useful for targeting corners Anyway, you'll hate or love them...

Cheers

Marc

It's been done before. Carl's front end is designed for racing, not daily street use. What would you do for turn signals? You will loose the driving and fog lights too.

I was thinking of something like this (in general, not this exact design):

Without the restriction of the popup openings you have a lot of options.

If you don't use an OEM housing, here's a good place for lamp modules - http://www.rallylights.com/
headlights - http://www.rallylights.com/SearchRes...CategoryID=359
marker lights - http://www.rallylights.com/SearchRes...CategoryID=352

I like the popups, but if you want to have decent power:weight, they gotta go.

'85 5-speed, sport seats. >310 rwhptq:3100# w/half tank. (no A/C, lightweight 944 Cup mirrors, projector headlamps, euro high beams, 1/2 back seats, etc, etc.) Someday I'll get the spoiler back on...

This is what I think of integrated headlights on a 928.

It's not a 928 without original lights.
Like the Miura, would anyone ever desecrate those.

Yeah, I know it's up to opinion, but I didn't see anything here that looked like an improvement. The yellow one isn't bad, but makes it look more like an Acura than a Porsche.

Which yellow one? In my mind only Porken's is acceptable.

I would really like to see if someone (PorKen?) can come up with a projector headlamp that sits in the existing housing so it can still pop-up. Retains the style elements, but has the better functionallity of the projector beam headlights. I think there would be a big market for that. I know I'd buy it.

Which is why copying the "new" Miura's headlights seams like a no-brainer:

I don't know Hacker - look at the rake of those front fenders - far steeper than the old Muira or the 928. Porken's may be the only viable option to keep the original styling cues.

I think my current setup would look much better with a carbon fiber or body-color-matched background.

The 50/60/90mm projector lamps look so small compared to the 200mm H4/H5 glass size. If the popup lift lever was shortened so the lights went up only partway, a la 968, I think the raked look would fit the look of projectors behind covers, in the pods.

I like Porkens because it mimicks the original look. I didn't realize they were actually functional, I just thought they were covers.

The yellow one at the very top isn't terrible, but still doesn't look like a 928.

Why don't you use the same style headlights as they put on Ferry's stretched 928 (model no. 942)?
