Default Selling my '85 PRICE LOWERED 6/28

Well, I never thought that I would have to do this, but, I'm being relocated AGAIN for work, after just moving here 3 months ago....going overseas this time and I have to sell my 928

She's an '85 with 115,518 miles. She runs decent most of the time, as she does have a couple of vacuum leaks. I've been so busy with work that I just haven't had the wrench time. However I have most of the parts needed to do a complete intake R&R, including a new Bosch TPS, new Bosch ISV, 2 new caps & rotors, a fuel line kit from Roger, new vacuum line kit from Carl, a new set of Ford 24lb. injectors from Roush-Yates Racing, new WR7DC's and a new set of Beru wires from Roger were installed last summer, flex-plate tension was released last winter. No leaks of any kind whatsoever. All body panels are straight; steering is tight; car handles well while driving.

What She Needs:

She has an exhaust leak, I'm going to try and find it today.

The paint is OK but obviously a respray would be best. It is starting to chip/crack on the lip of the driver's fender. There is a very small amount of rust under the passenger side quarter window, about 1" in length. Passenger side mirror is chipping badly.

Driver's side coil ground needs to be replaced.

There is a hairline crack in the center of the windshield.

The dash and pod have the usual thin cracks, about 3 total.

The leather is decent, it could stand to be replaced; there are a few very small holes between all of the 4 seats. The power seats work with the exception of the recline function on the driver's seat, however I have a new switch that will solve that problem.

The driver's side door panel could use some attention as the vinyl has come loose from the top where the panel meets the window channel.

Fuel gauge does not work. The low-fuel light does come on. I've cleaned the sending unit, but have not tested it.

Missing the front spoiler.

Needs new rear hatch supports.

The spark plug well seals around the cam covers need to be replaced as some oil will build up in a few of the wells every 6 months or so.

Headlight washers do not work; haven't investigated this.

Motor mounts could probably use replacing.

2 rust spots on the rear hatch, however I have a complete S4 hatch in the same color with trim and an S4 spoiler that I was going to replace this with.

The drivers side rear bumper shock is slightly collapsed, leaving a slight indention in the rear bumper. It's noticeable, but only if you're looking for it.

A/C blows hot air; most likely needs a recharge and a new heater valve.

The car is a solid foundation for a restoration. I also have some other additions that will go with it such as a complete set of Carrera 4 wheels, F7.5x18, R10x18 in great condition, a beautiful Nardi steering wheel, carbon-fiber strut bar, and some other extras.

I've listed everything that I can think of currently that the car needs. I will go over the car again today and add anything else that I find that needs attention.

Photos will follow today, and I will take additional photos of any areas that you would like to see. I'm moving in 6 - 8 weeks so I need to sell her soon. Price reduced to $3300.

Please PM, or email me at creedo78@gmail.com, or call me at 704.900.8217, or on my mobile at 910.297.0025. The car is located in Charlotte, NC. Please ask any and all questions.

Thanks,
-Mark

Looks to me to have very good potential, and especially with the extra stuff, a smokin good price to transfer it to another custodian. Sorry you are selling it. How does it drive and shift?

I'm sorry too...perhaps I can find a Euro over in London...anyway, it drives quite well; the vacuum leak seems to only have intermittent effects on driving, i.e. when flooring it, otherwise it runs good and shifts fine after it's been warmed up for about 10 minutes.

I try to drive her every 2 weeks just to keep everything in working order mechanically.

Yes, I'm going to take several more photos of the car today. I posted the only one that I had on hand and it is rather old. I'll post the other photos this afternoon.

Update. I found out at work today that I'm probably going to have to start work before I move...

Price is now lowered to $3300. It hurts, but I have to sell this car soon. I just want to be sure that it goes to a good home. I know that out of all the buyers out there that someone from this forum will restore it to what it should be. Someone from here please save it - I hate to have to put it on ebay.

Just remember if you find a EURO car over there it will cost a small fortune to bring it home w/ you so go in to it with the plan to get rid of that one before you come back home... trust me you don't want to deal w/ importing a 928 (or anything really...costs a fortune).

That's great advice, James. Thank you

I'm most likely going to be over there for at least 2 years...definitely want a 928 while I'm there...

Find a nice early Euro and drive it a couple years, then sneak it in through Canada.
