Another Failed Motor Mount Story
Add me to the list of people that got defective motor mounts from that bad batch Roger sold. Had them done at the same time I had the timing belt and water pump done. They must have failed literally in a matter of days. I wondered why the engine was suddenly an inch lower, it was very obvious looking at the air intake tubes in relation to the crossmember. I had my mechanic order and install the expensive Porsche OEM mounts. Some of the alternatives suggested here sound good but I didn't feel like experimenting at this point. My mechanic will be returning the old ones, I bear no ill will toward Roger, not his fault, but what are they thinking in India! You would think they would want repeat orders and would care enough to at least make servicable mounts, but whatever, live and learn.
Anyway, enough doom and gloom, I love the car and it's time for some summer fun now that it is all sorted.
Cheers!

Hi Ken,
I am very sorry to hear that.
I will at least refund you the cost of the MM's.
Please do not send the old ones back as there is no point in throwing good money after bad.
Best,
Roger

Agreed...Hell et al...did you not consider contacting 928Rus via pm, email, phone call or carrier pigeon before you posted this??? It seems you have lost an opportunity to leave a positive impression.
My bad though...that would have been the way I would have done it.
For the record, I have nothing but positive experiences with Roger and the crew...my humble opinion.

I have no problem with Roger as I said. Since the topic has been gone over here plenty I saw no reason to contact Roger before posting this, he knows the mounts are out there, not his fault, my problem is with the people in India that made them.

Nothing is Lost When Everyone Learns Something New
Lost by whom or, put another way, who loses by publicizing this information? It seems to me that all parties and onlookers learned from the exchange. I know I am thankful for the information. I may or may not consider an aftermarket motor mount. But whatever decision I make, it will be more informed because of a courteous exchange by everyone involved.

No reason I can see to bring this up in public again.
A simple PM would have done the trick.

Hellbronze: You are a new "User" on Rennlist. If you were a member, or had lurked for any period of time before buying from Roger, you probably would have noticed a certain amount of courtesy in the business practices of our primary 928 vendors, so I have to agree with Greg's statement.
dcmelik: You too are a "User". I cannot disagree in total with your take either but if i ever had a problem with anybody for anything, I always took the issue to the person before I would take it to the streets. No hurty-feelys necessary here, just courtesy is always respected more than unnecessary laundry hanging. Just sayin'!

It wasn't all bad
What I learned (actually already knew it) was that Roger is a vendor that stands behind his products, honors warranties and is someone I will do business with again and again. In this case he credited the cost immediatly without needing to verify the failure, unlike some other vendors.

Look, Roger has been nothing but stand up about the whole motor mount business as evidenced by his actions on this forum. I would not hesitate to buy from him again, or recommend him to others. In fact his handling of the whole business has made me more likely to do business with him again. I also got the impression that he and others here wanted information on how many mounts were bad, when did they fail etc... If it were not already so public that there were bad mounts, I certainly would not have posted my problem here before contacting Roger.
