Default Oil cooler lines?

I have a Behr radiator. Whule I was digging around in the engine bay I noticed that there is a fitting on the top inboard drivers side of the radiator with no hose attached. In looking at some radiator threads I see discussion about oil cooler lines.

I had assumed I did not have them because I had a 5 spd and the lines were for an AT. Then I saw a pic of a 5 spd OB and it had oil cooler lines.

Should I have oil cooler lines? Is it dependant on the type radiator? Are the just not installed and capped off?

Thanks

Looks like they were used on the 78 cars then removed.
Fitted again in 83 and on. USA/Canada cars is what I checked.

I would guess that your engine wasnt equipped with the oil cooler lines and the radiator has since been replaced as such the it had an oil cooler but with no engine oil lines it wasnt connected.
Just a guess

My 79 has the original radiator and it looks like there are provisions on the driver side as well.
I could have sworn someone said that you could just add the cooler lines (block to radiator) and make it work?? I could have been dreaming though.

Check the block just fwd of the oil filter for a 'shunt' - hose (or steel pipe?) coming out of block and then back in close by. If there is one there, if you bought the lines (or obtained used ones...), you could remove the shunt and fit the lines. Not knowing why it is the way it is might be a worry though....leaking intercooler etc.
