Hey guys, no this isn't a world cup thread, but rather a "differences" thread. I hope my father doesn't see this!! He has, what is believed to be, a 1980 Euro 928. My question is, how can I verify this (in order to get the correct parts for this car). So far, the only thing I can see that is different is that it came stock without the passenger side mirror, but it's left hand drive. I'm trying to get some timing parts for the car, but I don't know which I need, and I don't want to ask him ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Thanks guys!

Does that look like a 928 vin? I wasn't sure where it would be, on my 944 its visible through the driver side of the windshield, but I couldn't find it in the same spot, so I opened the door and looked at that plate.

Well, one good way to tell is the if there are side marker lights between the back of the front wheels and in front of the leading edge of the doors... If it is a Euro '80 then more than likely it has the 300 HP Euro S engine in it. You will probably need the "code numbers" off the engine block to REALLY tell which engine this is and exactly what parts you need.

Just the fact that there isn't one in the windshield pillar is indication of it being a Euro. Check the passenger side fender near the coolant tank/washer tank. There should be a full VIN stamped in the edge of the fender there.

Since you are looking for engine service parts, you need to locate the code on the engine to be certain that, even if the car was built as a euro, the engine still is. If you look under the waterneck, there is a metal bridge or casting in the block that will have number stamped in it such as 28/11. This will tell you what the engine currently in the car is. I'm confident there are photos showing the location of the engine code buried somewhere in the archives..
