Default wheel size / offset question for '82 track car

Looking to get new rims for the track car and am not sure about the offset that will work.
I would like to run the same rim and tire sizes all around.

I am currently running 9"x16" 993 wheels with 70mm offset and they work fine with 265 tires all around. The front rims rub on the inside tie rod after about a full turn on the steering wheel, but that's not a running problem.

The reason why I am trying to change the wheels is because I am getting lots of slightly used race tires 295/680 19's

The question is, will 19"x10" rim with a 58 mm offset work on the '82?

What would be the perfect offset and where to get the rims?

9.5 and 11" rims with 8" backspacing work the absolute best. 275s up front, 295 or 305 in the rear, and 285 with no fender rolling in the rear.

thanks Mark,
you had send me that info before, but I don't understand the 8" backspacing.
What is the backspacing? I though the only two factors where rim width and offset.
Please explain.
Thanks,

Backspacing is an american way of saying "offset"...basically it means on a 10" rim with zero backspacing the center of the wheel would be 5" in.....using MK's 8" backpacing would move the center 3" toward the "front" or outer wheel....making it 8" from the back and 2" from the "front"

My advice on wheels-tires...RUN STOCK ONES....sure big tires are cool, but $$$$$ I run 4 S4 rear wheels all the way around on the Lemons racer with BFG R1's in 245/45-16 and it handles GREAT...1.5G in the corners with great braking..... Lap times on par with other similar power 928's that had far bigger tires.....

I do think more tire "must" be better....but for only $180 per tire...why argue...18" tires can be $350+ easy....

Thanks for the explanation Brian, I understand now.

I do have a somewhat stock 16x9" with 70mm offset wheel that works great all around with 16/265 Kumhos.

However I do get 19/295 tires for free from a race team and would like to find rims for it. And I can not go to big brakes on the 16" wheels.

So I figured the 19x10" rims I found with 58mm offset would in terms have 7.283" backspacing and probably stick out too far in the front with 285 rubber on it.

Where could I find the right wheels?

Free tires is always good, BUT 19" rims are not cheap and they are HEAVY.....the forged 16" rims are quite light....especially club sports.....

Another bonus to running 16" is its a common AIX (American Iron) spec tire of 255/50-16...so tire availability is better....
