Default painting lettering

has anyone hand painted the lettering in the intake and valve covers? if so what did you use for paint?

I am considering doing this. What I plan to do is to go with black covers/intake with red lettering. The way I will go about it is to use VHT exhaust manifold paint in red first, then carefully mask off the lettering and paint black over it. Kind of a pain in the ***, but I think the result will be worthwhile. I think they make it in yellow too...maybe tri-tone?

In retrospect, it's probably better to use engine enamel, since the curing process is less heat-intensive. I would be worried about warping the valve covers at 650 degrees. The principle is still the same, and then you end up with a finish that theoretically will last. I know that many people have had success with the testor's paint pens, but personally I would opt for a more tailored solution

Like this...Just high temp paint and an artist brush for the recessed porsche on the cam covers. The raised lettering on the intake was painted and then dremeled down to bare metal and clearcoated.

yeah that would probably turn out real good. i already have my pieces powder coated, just wanted to spruce things up a bit. they do sell stickers for this purpose but i know how to paint and didn't want to spend $150 on stickers

Try the testor's then. Many have reported success. Patience and a steady hand will pay dividends. Post pics when it's done =)

I used Testors on my 90GT intake after powder coating. I've also done center cap crests.

I am a bit autistic.

Hand painted with regular automotive touch up paint over silver engine enamel then everything clear coated with high temp clearcoat.
