Default Low-side A/C fitting on GTS

Looks like the time of year for A/C questions ... lol

In a recent post the low-side fitting was described as being on the inner fender near the jump post/14-pin connector.

Is this true of GTS models too? Looked yesterday and looked like they might have moved it to just above the receiver-dryer.

No the R134a low pressure fitting is next to the expansion valve under the rain shield in front of the windshield.

I think it's a 1000% improvement over the location on the pre-GTS cars- On my '90 it's impossible to get to without burning the crap out of yourself on the upper radiator hose.

+1.

On the flip-side you need extra-long A/C-gauge hoses...

r134a was required as of '93. IMO, Porsche took the laziest path and only touched the system when they were required to.

If you ask me, the post-95 requirement for ODB-II in the States was why the 928 died. Porsche couldn't be bothered to upgrade the 928's unique-to-Porsche LH/EZK. (Or IOW, too expensive for selling a couple 100 per year best case.)

hmmm... this location is not always true for a GTS.
My GTS is a 92 model (in Europe they were already available before released to US market) and the low side AC valve is below the radiator hose, same as the S4. No hands burned yet, but it is a bit of an awkward place to reach, agreed.

Theo,
As already pointed out the location changed on 93 production when they moved from R12 to R134a.
The 92 production cars (early 93 in the States) where R12.
